~Joni’s Review~~

This book was a more than just a story about finding love and getting your happily ever after. This book was a journey.

Nicolette and her family moved to California to pursue her parents dream. At first she was very angry to have been forced away from her home in Chicago so close to her eighteenth birthday and leaving her family and friends behind. Starting a new school at the beginning of her senior year wasn’t something she wanted to do.

While attending a party with her parents she meets Michael St. Clair. Michael was a college student and from the moment he laid eyes on Nicolette he had to have her. The problem was she didn’t want him.

To gain some privacy from Michael and his pursuit of her, Nicolette takes a walk on the beach and away from the party. This is where she meets Simon Paulson.

As time goes by Michael is ruthless in his pursuit on Nicolette. No matter how many times she rejected he never got the hint. He was calling, texting, and sending her gifts. He also showed up at many places she was.

Simon warned Michael away many times as well. They had a past and Simon knew Michael was no good. As the weeks and  months go by, Simon and Nicolette form a relationship that can withstand so much pain and heartache.

I knew something wasn’t right with Michael, he was bad news, but Simon I instantly loved and never once did I doubt his devotion to Nicolette.

One act can change your life forever. This book is about overcoming an act of violence, forgiveness, trust, and learning to live again. Like I said it’s more than just a story it’s a journey of a young girl’s life that changed so much in an instant.

4 STARS!!!

Bonus Scene
In an instant, life can change forever. How true this was for my beautiful girl, Nicolette. I watched her changed right before my very eyes. From a vibrant and self-assured seventeen year old, to a broken and shattered girl who had no light left in her caramel brown eyes. If I had only known sooner what she had been dealing with…I could have prevented the unforeseen act of brutality that awaited her. I allowed her to go to her mother and my brother while I lived my life in Chicago with no knowledge of him… the psychotic attacker, Michael St. Clair. My world had been shattered with one phone call. All I saw was red! I wanted revenge on the person who hurt my girl. My hand was forced and that is something that never happens. I made a promise to my brother to believe that justice would prevail and the animal that hurt Nicolette would suffer for his crime. After months of watching her, existing and not living, trying to gain back some semblance of her life… was excruciating for me. She left us…her family, to find the strength she needed to be whole again. He took something from her that can never be replaced. Nicolette, as young as she was, was strong and determined. Although it broke my heart to say good-bye to her, I knew we had to let her go. She was battling through days of darkness and nights of despair. On the outside to others she appeared to be getting better but, on the inside she was struggling through darkness and pain. She beguiled us all with her strength and courage. She found her light again, and returned home to us. She was not the same girl I said good-bye to months earlier. Nicolette was fearless, stronger, and determined to right the wrongs of what happened to her. I was too and I knew the promises I made to her father and my wife would have to be broken. I sat in the courtroom and listened to my girl re-live the events of that horrible night. She never cried, she just told her story all the while I clenched my jaw and tightened my fists. I wanted him dead, and that’s exactly what was going to happen…promise or not, he was going to die! The judge issued the sentencing. He was handcuffed and taken back into custody. He dared one more glance at Nicolette and then turned his head down and followed the guards. Did he think this was over? No way in hell! Nicolette was beaming with happiness. She did it. She faced her fears head on and was able to start to finally put this nightmare behind her. I watched her leave with Simon, the boy who captured her heart and loved her unconditionally. My brother and his wife were smiling for the first time in months. This was over for them, but just beginning for me. I excused myself and pulled out my cell phone. I knew once I set this in motion, there would be no turning back. I hit the speed dial on my phone, and gave my orders. “He’s on his way. He is not to be touched, and will remain under the protection that I have provided until all is in place. Do I make myself clear?” I heard him answer, “Yes” and then I shut my phone. I made sure he was unharmed in prison and never allowed him to be confident in knowing that he was untouchable. His first warning was waiting for him when he entered his cell for the first time.
Anticipation of death is worse than death itself.
I had several of these delivered to him over a course of several months. I wanted him to look over his shoulder… be afraid like the coward I knew he was. Then they stopped, and I was ready to strike. I cashed in all my chips that were owed to me for this favor. I had only one chance to make this happen and today was the day. He was on laundry detail. The room was located on the lower floors of the prison, surrounded by loud sounds of the industrial machines. He was taken and bound to a chair with his mouth stuffed with a rag to silence his screams. Nestled out of sight in a dark corner of the room, I slowly crept in and approached him. His eyes were red from his cowardly tears that fell down his cheek and moaning for his life. I leaned in to his ear and whispered. “Do you remember me?” He shakily nodded his head. I took in several deep breaths and began what would be the last words Michael St. Clair would ever hear. “I could have ended your life that day in the hospital, but I didn’t. Every day Michael… I could have but, I didn’t. I watched you in the courtroom as you sat there, confidently thinking that you would get your sentence and still be able to live your life one day. Did you think that, Michael?” He sat there with no emotion, and just listened to me. I circled him round and round, he didn’t move. “You made my girl bleed, you PIG. Do you remember what I said to you? Hmm…Pigs get slaughtered! You preyed upon an innocent girl, infected her with your seed and caused her undeniable pain. You robbed her…YOU BROKE HER! I can’t let you live one more day knowing that life awaits you outside of these walls, because they don’t.” I removed his gag and I asked him one last question. “Do you have anything to say before fate comes for you?” He looked directly into my eyes, and said... “Do it! I can’t have her… I’m already in hell.” I plunged my blade into his heart with one strong thrust. He gasped, as his eyes slowly closed. I watched as he bled out, and I let out the breath that I was holding. I swore I would never return to this life again, but after what happened to Nicolette, I knew there was no way I could ever live with knowing that the animal that hurt her still had breath in his lungs.

~~Joni’s Review~~

From the beginning my curiosity was peaked. Something had happened to November to send her from her home in New York with her mother to live in Tennessee with her father. The father she only met when she was eighteen. I loved Mike and his unconditional love for his daughter. The fact that he was there for her when she needed him the most was terrific to me.

November is going to work for her dad at his strip club doing the books and the very first day she steps out of those doors she meets Asher. He is a complete jerk, but she’s instantly attracted to him.

November and Beast, her savior and protector Great Dane are visiting a local nursing home when she runs into Asher again. I could tell that Asher was all alpha male and that he had his sights set on November.

After their first “non date” everything changes for these two. Asher wants November. November wants Asher. But some of the things that happened in her past have her second guessing a lot.

The chemistry and love between these two was off the charts. I was rooting for them the whole way through and praying that the author didn’t break my heart. The mystery from the beginning keeps you guessing until close to the end.

Once I started reading I couldn’t stop. I sat in the same place for many hours. Lost electricity and read by candlelight and then sat up late in the night to finish this one. I loved it from start to finish!!

I want more of this family! I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

5 GREAT BIG STARS!!!!

Synopsis:

Carmen always had a wild streak about her while growing up in this small town. Everyone use to say her only saving grace in this world was her best friend Walker who tried to keep the flighty girl grounded. But life was too big for her to live in this one stop light kind of town; she had dreams and wants that could take her anywhere but staying there. Anything was better than being stuck in the perpetuating cycle of being born and dying in this hell hole she called the reality of a small town girl.

Walker was the only anchor that could hold her home, she lived for that boy. So how do you explain to someone that staying there would only suffocate the possibilities of making a better life for oneself? Running away was the only option, and leaving a piece of her heart with him would keep her strong out in the real world, at least she hoped it would.

After years of trying to make it on her own, struggling through life and trying to stay clean, the only reality she sees at surviving now is going back to the place she tried so hard to break free from. Unsure if her old life is willing to accept the choices she has made, the lone thought that matters to her is hoping she still has the only man she has counted on her entire life in her corner. You can always go home, but will they be willing take you back?

~Meli’s Review~

We meet Carmen and Walker during their last week of highschool. Carmen is a spunky girl wants out of the small town and Walker is the total country boy never plans on leaving their small town. The only issue with that is they both love each other and neither one want to tell the other.
Carmen leaves the small town literally hours after graduation. Walker goes though the police academy and becomes and officer in his home town.

The book goes over a course of 6 years. Alternating from Carmens point of view to Walkers. Each one moving on with their lives and each one having to deal with heartbreak.

The author did an amazing job with keeping me guessing, keeping me wanting more and making sure I have tissues when I needed them.
Walker to me is the perfect man. His country ways and manors are just down right hot and sexy.  His love for Carmen never goes away. Not saying he didn’t try but end the end his heart belonged to Carmen.

Carmen herself went through so much in her 6 years away and never stopped loving Walker. When she needed him the most he came for her. He helped her recover and their love grew stronger even with her doubts that she isn’t good enough for him.

Through everything that happened with them and all the devastation Carmen and Walker showed that no matter what once you find your soul mate you will always find your way back to them and that true love can conquer all.

I give this amazing story 5 humongous stars

~Joni’s Review~

Carmen couldn’t wait to get out of there one red-light town and move on to Los Angeles and see her name in lights. She hated everything about her hometown. Except Walker. She knew she had to get out and that he never wanted to leave so she would have to leave him behind.

I fell in love with Walker right off. What’s not to love about a southern gentleman, even at eighteen, who loves his best friend Carmen unconditionally. He saw the real Carmen and not the persona she put on for everyone else.

The closer it got to graduation, Walker started to try to distance himself to prepare for her departure. When the day came and they were finally graduates he thought he had a few days left to change her mind.

He was wrong. My first heartbreak for Walker.

Carmen finds life isn’t as easy as she thought it would be in the big city. She didn’t regret leaving her small town though she knew that soon enough she’d fulfill her dreams.

Walker proceeds on with his life after Carmen. He goes on to the Academy and joins the Sherriff’s dept. like he always wanted. He still hadn’t moved on from Carmen though.

That is until he sees a broken down car on the side of the road and he meets Sadie.

Another year passes and Carmen is finally making a name for herself. Even though it’s not quite what she wants.

Then again my heart breaks for Walker.

Over the first four years Carmen was gone so much happens in her life until ultimately her life spirals completely out of her control. She finds herself somewhere she never thought she’d be.

Almost two years later she places a call that she never thought she would.
Like the best friend that he is Walker is there for her in a heartbeat. It’s time to go home.

The author did an amazing job with this story. I was drawn in to their lives immediately and fell in love with Walker a little with every chapter. Every one needs someone in their lives they can depend on and Carmen was lucky she had that. The issues that were faced in here where very real issues and to see how it would all turn out had a huge smile on my face.

I absolutely LOVED this book and cannot wait to see what TA brings us next.

I also give Running Home 5 Humongous Stars!!!

About Kim Karr:

I live in Florida with my husband and four kids. I've always had a love for reading books and writing. Being an English major in college, I wanted to teach at the college level but that was not to be. I went on to receive an MBA and became a project manager until quitting to raise my family. I currently work part-time with my husband and full-time embracing one of my biggest passions—writing.

I wear a lot of hats! Writer, book-lover, wife, soccer-mom, taxi driver, and the all around go-to person of the family. However, I always find time to read. One of my favorite family outings use to be taking my kids to the bookstore or the library. Today, my oldest child is in college and my twins are juniors so they no longer go with me on these outings. And although I don't need to go to the actual store anymore because I have the greatest device ever invented—a Kindle, I still do. There's nothing like a paperback. So now my four year old and I make dates out of going to the bookstore--it's time I love and cherish.

I like to believe in soulmates, kindred spirits, true friends, and Happily-Ever-Afters. I love to drink champagne, listen to music, and hopes to always stay young at heart.

Connected was my debut novel and is currently available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble , iTunes and Kobo.

Torn is the sequel to Connected and will be released on October 1st, 2013. It is available for pre-order on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, iTunes.

I hope you enjoy reading them as much as I enjoyed writing them.

~~Joni’s Review~~

I’m going to start off by saying that I was absolutely terrified going into this book. I loved Connected so much and River was my first book boyfriend. The way Connected ended and what I knew is why I was terrified. Not knowing what would happen next. River and Dahlia are my all time favorite couple. Now do you understand why I was terrified.

Dahlia has suffered so much loss and grief and River came into her life and healed so much of her pain. They are soul mates that share such a strong connection you can feel it coming off the pages.

Right when everything was going perfectly the past comes back and now it could all change. Not knowing how Dahlia would deal with this was killing me. River’s pain and anger over it all was breaking my heart.

Kim Karr reminded me why I fell in love with River and Dahlia in the first place. I fell so much more in love with them with every hurdle they jumped. I cried so many happy tears in so many parts.

There were some twists in there that I didn’t see coming and one that broke my heart. A lot of things left unanswered have now been answered and I cannot wait to see where things go from here.

I absolutely refuse to ruin this book for anyone so you will have to read it for yourself to see what happens at the end. It’s very hard to write a completely spoiler free review so I’m done. Just know that I would give this book a lot more stars if I could. It was perfect, really.

5 Heartfelt Stars!!!

Torn Interview Questions

1. What inspired you to write Connected and Torn?
The night The Voice premiered on NBC in April 2011, I watched it and fell in love with the show and Adam Levine. I started to think about his journey with Maroon 5 and the number of years it took him to gain fame. I had been thinking about writing a book but hadn’t come up with a storyline that intrigued me enough. For some reason, that night the story of Dahlia, River, and Ben came to mind. The name of book was different as well as character names, but the plot never veered. I always intended for these two books to be a duet and the ending of Connected was the very first thing I wrote.

2. Discuss your inspiration for Dahlia, Ben, River. How did they transpire?
Character inspiration for Connected evolved as soon as the concept of the book came alive in my mind, I knew I wanted a strong heroine and two heroes that loved her but in different ways. I created the characters from within, who they were, and then conveyed their personalities and appearances to the reader.

In my head, Dahlia had to be strong to weather the circumstances life threw her way, but I wanted her to be funny and loving with quirks and habits.

Ben’s personality, as well as his name, actually transpired from a character on a TV show I used to watch years ago. The character on the show was an avid basketball player and swimmer, but since Dahlia and Ben lived near the beach, I decided he should be a surfer. A surfer who has difficulty expressing his feelings, hasty in decision making, temperamental, and contemplative, somewhat of a contrast to Dahlia. But, Ben has true depth and sensitivity that Dahlia admires.

River’s character didn’t transpire as much—he just happened. He is who I would consider to be the perfect guy. I took all the traits I love and admire about men and lumped them into him.

3. Did you plan for your first book to turn into a series?
Yes I did. Just as I planned Connected and Torn to be a duet, my original plan was The Connections Series would consist of three duets for a total of six books. I have since changed my mind and the remaining books in the series will be stand alones. Of course they are part of a series and all characters will appear in all books.

4. You left Connected hanging with a major cliffhanger—will you do that in your next books?
Since I wrote the end of Connected before I wrote the beginning, I don’t regret the ending. Would I do again—absolutely! Would I write another book with a cliffhanger hanging—that I’m not sure about!

5. Do you have a specific writing style?
I think all writers do.  We have a certain flow and sentence structure that rarely varies book to book.  I have already plotted out the remaining books in the Connections Series and I’ve written the endings for each one.

6. What book are you reading now?
I try to keep up the latest releases as well as read releases in my favorite series. When I’m writing it’s hard to read but I try to set aside at least an hour a day.

7. What current project are you working on?
I am writing Mended. This is Xander’s Wilde story and his brother does make an appearance.

8. What can readers look forward to in the future?
My plan is finish Mended then decide if The Connections Series will consist of 5 or 6 books. I am considering cutting one. The book after Mended is Frayed and I have already started that story. It was actually suppose to be released before Mended but I changed my mind.

9. Please explain the importance of music to you in books. You said something in your Author's note about how important it was to you in writing and that the chapter titles have significance.
All chapters in my books are named after songs that inspired me. Bob Marley said, “One good thing about music, when it hits you, you feel no pain.” As a listener, I couldn’t agree more. As a writer, I think it’s better to say music is what feelings sound like when those feelings are written in print.

Music and writing are different, yet similar arts. They both tell a story. They both convey emotion. Yet, one can be heard and the other seen. If you can write a story and put music behind it, I believe you can convey feelings in a more impactful, raw, and emotional way. When trying to express written emotions, the tone of a certain song can allow the reader to feel the sentiments that the character is feeling.

I chose to have each chapter be titled by a song that best represented the events occurring within. My goal is that the reader will listen to the song before reading each chapter so they will feel the full impact of the scene.

In the words of Billy Joel, “I think music in itself is healing. It’s an explosive expression of humanity. It’s something we are all touched by. No matter what culture we’re from, everyone loves music.” I couldn’t agree more. Listening to the lyrics of a song and truly understanding them tells such a beautiful story. So, combining this with an emotional novel just helps bring it to life.

10. Do you have any advice for other writers?
My advice to new writers: plan out your story before you begin. It is so much easier to fill in the chapters than sit there with a blank screen trying to figure out what to write. Also, reach out, make friends, share your work, find a support group, and always have faith in your work.

Excerpt:

With so much pain and anger welling up inside me, I know I can’t have this conversation with him right now. Feeling strangled, out of breath, I take a step back and free my hand from his. I trusted him completely—and he kept this from me. I have to calm down and figure out what that means. At the same time I can’t help looking into his mesmerizing green eyes. I can’t handle seeing my own fear and anger reflected in his eyes any longer. His stare intensifies and he’s looking at me, and I mean really looking at me, as if willing our connection to fix all of this.
I swallow a few times before forcing myself to look away. “No River, I can’t talk to you when we’re like this. I know we will both say things we don’t mean. We need time to figure our anger out before we sit down and have a conversation.”
He tries to yank me flush to his body. His voice shakes with fury. “I don’t need time to figure anything out. I get it. You left me a note. You ran here the first chance you got to see him! Was it a happy reunion or were things just getting started?”
I have never heard this kind of furious tone from him before, and, without any control, I pull back and slap him. “I told you I’m not having this conversation right now. Listen to yourself!”

Next Lifetime
We walked through the open door to the University of Southern California Campus Bar and Aerie pulled her tail up. “At least they aren’t playing that Halloween crap in here,” she yelled a little too loudly. As my ears adjusted, I heard a velvety soft voice singing an unfamiliar yet captivating song.
Aerie stopped to put her devil horns on, and I glanced around the large room recognizing a lot of students, while trying to get a look at the band. I shouted directly into her ear, “They sound really good. Have you heard them before?”
She was on her toes trying to see over the crowd. I laughed at how short she was until her pointy devil horn hit me in the eye. “No, but I love their sound,” she responded, still trying to see the stage and almost falling over.
I had been coming here for the last three years and couldn’t ever remember it being so crowded. I could barely see the long wooden bar to my right, and with the mass of bodies bumping and grinding on the dance floor, I couldn’t even catch a glimpse of the stage.
“Do you know their name?” I asked Aerie.
“I think they’re called the Wilde Ones,” she hiccupped and laughed. She winked at me as she started to dance her way toward some friends on the dance floor and yelled over her shoulder, “By the way, I love them! Great name and an even greater sound.”
“I’ll get drinks and meet you out there in a bit,” I said to no one since she was already gone. When the bartender acknowledged me, I ordered two beers, one with ice and one without, and tacked on two shots to help Aerie drown her misery.
The live music stopped and typical Halloween songs were blasted through the speakers. I turned my back to the bar and scanned the crowd for Aerie. You would think she would be easy to spot in her red sequin devil costume. She said she was out for vengeance and if her outfit was any indication, she would be vindicated.
I didn’t see her anywhere but I did spot an attractive guy. He was still too far away for me to zero in on any specific feature, but something—no, everything—about him drew my attention.
I watched how he moved; his confidence captivated me. He seemed relaxed, like he knew exactly where he was going. And as he headed in my direction, I became mesmerized. Biting my bottom lip, I was unable to focus on anything but him. My head was still a little foggy from the three beers I’d consumed earlier and I was clearly not thinking straight when I made eye contact with him, and then slowly studied his body from head to toe.
As the distance between us narrowed, I could see that he was alarmingly attractive: long, lean, and muscular but not bulky. He wore a black beanie hat with his light brown hair sticking out. When I looked into his eyes, they undid me. Although I couldn’t see their color, I could feel their intensity. I almost feared that if I looked into them for too long I might never walk away. His eyes aside, the words handsome and gorgeous weren’t strong enough adjectives to describe this man.
My mind wandered to where it shouldn’t. Knowing better than to compare this guy to my boyfriend, I did it anyway. I felt incredibly guilty, but I couldn’t help myself. Ben was all surfer. He was attractive, hot, and sexy with an ego to match. This guy was equally as attractive, hot, and sexy, but there was something else—something more. I couldn’t quite put my finger on it.
Easing his way through the crowd, he removed his beanie and ran his hands through his hair. When our eyes connected it felt like minutes, but only seconds passed. Suddenly I felt an electric pull forcing me to keep looking at him. Everything I felt indicated he was dangerous. I knew I should look away, walk away, but I didn’t. I couldn’t. He was just too alluring.
He was finally close enough that I could tell his gleaming eyes were green. I was instantly drawn to his smile. It wasn’t a full smile, more like a half grin emphasizing his dimples. His skin was smooth with no facial hair and that made me weak in the knees. His full lips were begging for a kiss. I’d never looked at a guy like this before, not even Ben. So why was I eyeing him this way, and why was I unable to avert my gaze?
Aside from his overall sex appeal, his clothing made him even more irresistible. He wore faded jeans, a black Foreigner concert T-shirt, and black work boots. I had to laugh a little when I saw the concert T-shirt because I was wearing one, too—my dad’s U2 T-shirt, knotted on the side, hanging off my shoulder.
Having made his way through the crowd much better than I had, he was now standing in front of me. His face was breathtaking; he had a strong chin, a small straight nose, perfectly shaped eyebrows, and long eyelashes. He was a vision of utter perfection and I couldn’t help but smile.
The bar was crowded and there was no room on either side of me. Putting both hands in his pockets, he smiled back at me. Then, running his tongue over his bottom lip, he asked in a low, sexy voice, “Were you staring at me?”
I pouted my lips and rolled my eyes. I took a deep breath as I straightened my shoulders and placed my hands on my hips, “No, I was just looking for my friend while I waited on my drinks. You just happened to be in my line of vision.”
He chuckled a little then said, “That look was hot.”
I huffed out a breath and tried not to laugh. Did he really just say that?
When the bartender brought my order and set it in front of me, my phone started ringing in my pocket, but I ignored it as I continued to stare at him. “Why would you think I was looking at you, anyway?”
As the person beside me settled her tab and walked away, he moved to fill the empty space and tossed his beanie next to my drink. His proximity caused my pulse to race and my heart to pound faster. Leaning sideways, he rested his hip against the bar. With his eyes still locked on mine he answered, “Because I was staring at you, hoping you were staring back.”
I looked directly into those powerful green eyes, so full of intensity, and I instantly lost my train of thought. With the electric pull only growing stronger between us, I feared I wasn’t going to be able to get out of this encounter unscathed.
He dragged his teeth across his bottom lip and his eyes scanned my body. The expression on his face told me he wanted to do more than just talk. I wanted to do more as well.
A moment of comfortable silence passed before he cocked his head to the side in the most adorable way and grinned. “With all this talk about who was staring at whom I think we forgot the basics. I’m River,” he said as he extended his hand with the most devilish grin on his face.
Feeling bewitched by him, I put my hand out to shake his but quickly pulled it away. Unfortunately, I also bumped into the person standing next to me and accidentally spilled his beer.
He gave me a dirty look and swore under his breath. River’s grin quickly turned into a frown, and he gently moved me away. In a clipped tone he apologized, “Sorry, man, just an accident, but let me buy you another.”
The now drinkless man with a wet shirt looked at him and nodded. River pulled out his wallet and handed him a ten. “Buy two.” The man took the money and walked away, muttering something under his breath. River immediately returned his attention to me, and I bit the corner of my lower lip and smiled at him.
There we were, standing face-to-face, with only a few drinks separating us. Sliding one of the beers toward him, I took a sip of my own even though the ice had melted. “Thank you, that guy sure as shit wasn’t happy with me. In fact, he kind of acted like an asshole.”
Taking a sip of his drink, he started to laugh, almost spitting it out. Skimming his finger over my bare shoulder, his eyes locked on mine. “You’re more than welcome.”
Quivering from his touch and intense gaze, I took a step back, fearful of where this might lead.
Moving forward, he traced my last step. He was not going to let the distance widen between us. He stared intently into my eyes. “Now, where were we? Do we need to start over?” He waited for my response as he watched me swallow my drink.
I pulled my lower lip to the side with my teeth and smiled playfully. “We were introducing ourselves.”
“Okay, so let’s try again. I’m River and you are? . . .”
 “I’m not sure you need to know that information right now. I’m kind of thinking you might be a stalker.”
His eyes widened as he laughed. “You’re not serious—are you, beautiful girl?”
Unable to control my own laughter, I simply said, “Maybe I am,” but my laughter subsided when I registered the sweet name he’d called me.
Leaning toward me, he was close enough that I could inhale his fresh scent. It was a soapy, just-out-of-the-shower smell.
 “What? If you’re not going to tell me your name then I get to call you whatever I want.”
Averting my eyes from his gaze, I looked down.
After taking another sip of his beer, he set the mug down. He hooked my chin with his finger and tilted my head up toward him. His touch seared my skin and left it tingling. He stared at me with his intense green eyes and chuckled. “Can we talk about you thinking I’m a Jack the Ripper type? I just want you to know, I’m definitely not. In fact, I think it’s safe to say you were staring at me first, but in no way do I think you’re a stalker.”
My mouth dropped open. I was unsure of what to say. I knew he was right. I had stared first.
“So we can get past this; let’s just say I was staring first. Not that it really matters.”
We were looking into each other’s eyes as the bartender passed me my bill. When I turned to pay for my drinks, our connection was broken. Handing my money to the bartender, I thanked him and told him to keep the change. This distraction gave me some time to think about how to handle this potentially dangerous situation.
I watched River as he ordered two more beers, and realized I had to work out my conflicted feelings. I pushed my guilt aside and handed him one of the shots.
“Cheers.”
“It’s a beautiful day,” he replied before shooting back the shot.
I tried not to show how turned on I was that he had just quoted lyrics from one of my favorite songs.
Setting his shot glass down, he put his hand in his pocket. “So, does this mean you forgive me?”
His voice was strong, but soft, and made him even more tempting. I found myself thinking that he was not only adorable, but unlike anyone I had ever encountered before. I knew I shouldn’t be doing this. I had a boyfriend that I loved waiting for me.
I raised an eyebrow and asked, “Forgive you? Forgive you for what?” I was having a hard time concentrating on the conversation and honestly had no idea what the apology was for.
He shifted on his feet. “You know what. Never mind,” he muttered in my ear. His warm breath brushed my neck and I wanted to feel it everywhere.
Looking me up and down, he changed the subject. “What, no costume?”
Continuing our dangerous flirtation, I glanced down, motioning with my hands from head to toe. “How do you know this isn’t my costume?”
While tugging on my T-shirt and pulling me a little closer, he seductively whispered, “If that’s your costume you’re definitely taking first place in the contest because it’s the sexiest one I’ve ever seen.”
We were silent for a minute; not even our heavy breathing could be heard. The noise from the bar and the crowd around us had quieted, but his words, his touch, they inflamed me, excited me, and sent fire through my veins.
“Where’d you get this, anyway?” he asked, tugging at the knot on my shirt, pulling me closer.
It felt like the room was spinning and I wasn’t sure if it was him, the alcohol, or the fact that he had just asked me a question I didn’t want to answer. “My dad managed the Greek and was a collector of concert T-shirts,” I said, trying to push back the emotions welling up inside me.
He seemed to understand my hesitation before nodding, clearing his throat, and once again changed the subject. “So, have you ever seen Foreigner play?” he asked, now pointing to his own shirt and grinning.
As I looked at the bold white letters across his chest, I pushed aside my sadness and refocused on our conversation. We were just two people who had a lot in common—or at least that was what I wanted to think. When our drinks were gone, he ordered another round. As I finished the shot, I accidentally slammed the glass on the bar, and the bartender glowered at me. “Sorry,” I mouthed.
River reached out and grabbed a strand of hair that had come loose from my ponytail. He very slowly tucked it behind my ear, sending shivers down my spine. Circling his index finger around my ear, he lightly tugged on my lobe. He sparked a fire in me that never before existed.
Gulping the drink I didn’t need to be drinking, I hoped to extinguish the flame. I hoped no one had seen him touch me that way. Ben would be fucking furious. He was ridiculously jealous. We had many arguments about other men, all unjustified. At least until now.
As the strobe lights started to flicker and I leaned my hip against the bar for support, he put his hand on my waist and turned me so my back was against the bar. I wondered if he noticed me almost lose my balance from the flashing lights and drunkenness. Moving to stand directly in front of me, he put his hands on either side of me and pressed his palms into the bar. He was enveloping me, but I didn’t feel trapped. I didn’t know what I felt, but I knew my heart was pounding out of my chest; my stomach was doing flips, and I became light-headed as goose bumps emerged on my skin.
I thought he was going to kiss me as he stared intently into my eyes. I closed my eyes preparing for it but I felt him abruptly pull away. Immediately, I heard a high-pitched voice squeal, “River, don’t forget we’re leaving right after the show,” and before I could catch a glimpse of the girl, she bounced away.
Smirking at me he said, “My little sister has the worst timing.”
I was going to respond when I heard a drumroll echo through the bar. Glancing around, I tried to figure out what it was for. Amused, he rolled his eyes before looking at the stage and then back to me. “That would be for me,” he laughed, leaning in so we were face-to-face. “They want me back onstage. I’ve gotta go unless you’d rather I stay and we finish what we started? Because that certainly would be way more fun.”
I really hadn’t heard anything he said, but everything seemed to finally make sense. He was the voice I heard when I came into the bar. He was so charming, so captivating, and so aware of me. I was pretty sure I was drunk because I was feeling things I should not have been feeling. As I stared into his powerful green eyes, I knew I should’ve been trying to escape them.
Before I could say anything in response, he moved his head slightly back, lifted my hand, and slowly kissed it. Then he leaned into me and whispered in my ear, “Guess not. Not yet, anyway.” My hand was on fire, my ear scorched.
That same drumroll rumbled through the sound system again and he quickly turned his head back to look at me. “I gotta jet.”
He was still holding my hand, as he looked straight into my eyes. “You’ll wait for me until after the show.”
It wasn’t a question. It was a statement. And then motioning between us, he added, “Because this isn’t finished.”
At that moment I realized that what had started as harmless flirting had turned into a situation that had gotten way too dangerous.
He placed his hands back on the bar and waited for a response. Since he hadn’t asked a question that I wanted to answer, I just smiled and said, “If you’re in the band you’d better go, you shouldn’t leave your fans waiting.”
He gave me one last heart-stopping grin and then leaned in and kissed me. My body reacted strangely; a rush of something I couldn’t identify surged through me. At first he only lightly touched my lips with his then for a few short seconds he pressed a little harder before pulling away. I didn’t kiss him back, but felt light-headed.
“I hope you’ve become a fan,” he said, winking at me before grabbing his hat. Then he turned and walked away.
I brought my fingers up to my lips and watched as his silhouette disappeared through the crowd. I became vaguely aware that “Superstition” was playing, but my mind was focused on him.
I shook my head, trying to rid myself of the thoughts that shouldn’t be there. I knew I had to leave, or I would end up doing something I would regret. I loved Ben, and Ben would fucking kill River just for looking at me the way he did. And then there was the kiss; yes, Ben would certainly kill him.
Knowing these things, I wondered why I hadn’t walked away in the first place. For a moment there, I felt as though I believed in love at first sight, which I didn’t. And how could love at first sight even exist when you were already in love with someone else? I didn’t want to keep thinking about what happened because I was confused as hell, and I knew the meaning of it all wasn’t what I wanted it to be.
I smiled about our encounter. He definitely was not a stalker. He was adorably charming and utterly charismatic, a guy who had a simple ease about him that I really liked, and a guy I didn’t ever need to see again. This I knew for certain.
With thoughts of River swirling through my head, I made my way through the crowd to the dance floor where I found Aerie with some kind of pink drink in her hand. “We have to leave. Now!” I shouted at her while pulling her off the dance floor.
“What? Why? Are you sick?” she asked, struggling for words.
Then she turned and pointed to the stage. “Because if you’re not, I want to see that hot guy sing first.”
I turned to see where she was pointing and sure enough it was him, River. I then realized I’d never even told him my name.
Pulling Aerie through the crowd under protest, I heard the audience chanting, “River Wilde, River Wilde.” I glanced up to the stage just in time to see him grab the microphone. Before the live music started we exited through the door, and Aerie started yelling obscenities at me. As we walked away I found myself thinking I had just had the most magical encounter and might never be the same because of it.

The set ends so I walk over behind Garrett to lean my guitar against the wall. I pull my shirt up to wipe the sweat off my forehead. It’s hotter than shit in here and I need a drink. Garrett laughs, tipping his head back to swallow the beer he somehow already has.
 “You going to grab a drink? I’ll take another,” he says as he downs the rest of his beer. “And, dude, wear this. Seriously man, your hair looks like shit,” he says throwing his beanie at me.
  I move closer and shove him a little and put the hat on my head. “Shut the fuck up, you should talk.”
I hop off the stage and my sister rushes over to me. “River, I need you to take me home as soon as the last set is over. I have someone meeting me back at my apartment.”
I shake my head, knowing it must be a guy. “Yeah yeah, I will Bell, but really can’t you get a boyfriend that has some manners? You know, like actually picks his date up and maybe even takes her out? And at a decent hour?”
She rolls her eyes. “All guys aren’t like you, big brother. Nice beanie,” she teases before disappearing back into the crowd.
As I walk through the jam-packed room, some brunette chick I think looks familiar asks me if I want to grab a drink in private. I kindly refuse, telling her I need to refuel before my next set. She’s still talking when I motion toward the bar to signal that I’m moving away. As my eyes flash across the bar, they’re suddenly drawn to a beautiful girl standing against it. And she’s looking directly at me.
I start walking toward her, leaving behind the brunette who is still talking. As I stare at the beautiful girl, I think, “I want her.” Tall, slim, long blonde hair that’s pulled away from her face. But it’s her eyes that get me—the way she’s looking at me. Shit, I’ve talked to about a dozen chicks tonight, but she is the only one who has me interested.
As I stare back at her I’m feeling like she’s not just any girl. Not just a girl to have sex with. I’m actually having a fucking conversation with myself. I can’t figure out what’s going on in my own head.
I try not to smile, but I know she’s checking me out. Fuck, why’d I put this hat on? I quickly pull it off and comb my fingers through my hair. I can’t take my eyes off her and I feel like I want to knock everyone out of my way to get to her.
When I finally reach the bar, I stand right in front of her. For some weird reason I feel the urge to touch her, but instead I shove my hands in my pockets. She’s smiling at me and I smile right back. This girl is hot. Her eyes still haven’t left mine this whole time, so I decide to break the ice by calling her out. “Were you staring at me?”
She pouts her lips and rolls her eyes. Shit, that look gets me.
“No, I was just looking for my friend while I waited on my drinks. You just happened to be in my line of vision.”
I stifle my laugh and say, “That look was hot.” I want to say, “You’re hot,” but I don’t—not yet anyway.
I can tell she’s trying not to laugh. If she does, I know I have her. Her phone rings and her smile fades. “Why would you think I was looking at you, anyway?”
The person beside her walks away and I secure my place next to her. I toss my hat on the counter and lean against the bar, my eyes never leaving hers. I answer in the most honest way I can. “Because I was staring at you, hoping you were staring back.”
I don’t want to fuck this up so I decide to be the guy Bell always tells me I am—the
guy with manners. Then I say what I should have said first. “With all this talk about who was staring at whom I think we forgot the basics, I’m River,” I say as I extend my hand.
She reaches hers out. Hey, I get to touch her. But she quickly pulls her hand back before I get to grasp it and accidentally knocks a dude’s beer over. The asshole gives her a dirty look and swears. I know I have to step in because this guy is out of line. I gently guide her out of my way and try to control myself as I say, “Sorry man, just an accident, but let me buy you another.” I hand him a ten, “Buy two.” I hope he takes the money and leaves. Lucky for him he does, because otherwise I might deck him.
I turn around to find the girl smiling at me and sliding one of her beers my way. I start to drink it and she says, “Thank you, that guy sure as shit wasn’t happy with me. In fact he kind of acted like an asshole.” I can’t help but laugh mid-sip, almost spitting the beer out of my mouth. Not cool.
Not able to resist any longer, I run my finger over her smooth bare shoulder and lock my eyes on hers. “You’re more than welcome.”
She just barely shudders and steps back. I’m pretty sure she’s interested in me so I step closer, not wanting to break our connection. “Now, where were we? Do we need to start over?” I ask, looking into her eyes.
 “We were introducing ourselves,” she says smiling.
 “Okay, so let’s try again. I’m River and you are . . .?”
 “I’m not sure you need to know that information right now. I’m kind of thinking you might be a stalker,” she teases.
I laugh. I’m all about game playing but I’m not ready to play. I really want to get to know this girl, and I’m pretty sure the feeling is mutual, so I avoid dropping the canned line I might have used on another girl and say, “You’re not serious, are you beautiful girl?”

Feisty Girls Review’s

~~Meli’s Review~~

First off I fell in love with Greg Cage when we met him in AXEL. I just loved the protectiveness he had towards Izzy and Dee. It was like he would do anything to protect them no matter the cost. I didn’t think that protectiveness could ever increase but he surprised me. The way he felt about Melissa and Cohen is how every woman wants their man to be. He was strong, gentle, loving and caring when it came to them but in the bedroom he was crazy on fire with Meli.

Ok lets get to the story a little bit. We meet Melissa when Cage takes Nate to the doctors for Izzy. When he first sees her all he thinks is damn. Their connection is instant. While Greg does everything in his power to get Melissa, Melissa is right there trying to push him away. Not wanting to give herself over to any man after what happened with her sister.

Cage and Meli end up meeting up at a club for the bachelor and bachelorette parties and Melissa cant fight the attraction anymore. While dancing he asks her to come home with him, she gives in knowing it will only be one night. Man was she terribly wrong. One night turned into the whole weekend and her leaving with more feelings than she ever thought was possible.

Greg, all he wanted was Melissa, but when he met Cohen he knew they had to be a family. Cohen...what to say about that adorable little boy. He grabs your heart from the moment you meet him. For such a young age he has been through so much and he is still the most happy kid in the world.

Of course their life isn’t always happy, things try to rip them apart and secrets could damage them forever. Can Melissa and Greg overcome everything that is thrown at them? Is their love and family able to withstand what the world puts them through?

I give this amazing book 5 HUMONGOUS STARS and then some!

~~Joni’s Review~~

My Kindle steamed throughout this whole book. I knew I loved Greg Cage in Axel for the way he treated Izzy and Dee, but DAMN I didn’t realize how hot he would be. I think my screen was fogged over and I may have needed a cold shower afterwards. Here I thought Cage was a big ole teddy bear now I know he is a beast and I mean that in the best possible way.

He was born to protect and he did that in the Marine Corp. Until tragedy struck and he felt that he failed the people he should have been protecting. His sister and his mother. For years he drifted and lost himself in women and a bottle. He takes back control of his life by opening his security business and protecting the ones in his life now.

Melissa Larson is no stranger to loss and feels like she failed to protect her sister from the monster she married. She does all she can to take care of the family she has left.

When Cage lays eyes on Meli he knows she’s not another nameless woman, he must have her. Lucky for him circumstances keep throwing them together and when she finally gives into him it is EXPLOSIVE!!

Of course you know it can’t be all sunshine and roses though, there is another woman determined to have Cage. Hell hath no fury like a woman who feels scorned. Pfft that bitch was crazy and couldn’t understand she was no longer needed nor wanted.
There is connection that ties Melissa and Cage together from the past and it could threaten everything they have.

I loved Cohen, he stole my heart and had me laughing so many times. Cage was so much more than I expected and I absolutely loved his and Melissa’s story. She was perfect for him. I fanned myself, I shed a tear or two, and I laughed along with the characters.

Harper Sloan did an AMAZING job with her second book in this series and I cannot wait to see what she does next.

5 HUGE AMAZING STARS!!!

~Joni’s Review~

WOW, I don’t even know where to begin. The synopsis is very accurate and the warning is there for a reason.

I did not see that coming and holy hell it was AMAZING!! I was blown away. V lives her life the way she wants. She believes that you use or be used. This is such a true statement in the world we live in. You only live once and you should live your life the way you want. Forget what others think and make yourself happy.

Well... That’s what V does, she uses for self gratification and then she’s gone. A new city, a new identity, on to her next adventure, and conquest. She’s on the run, but you don’t know why at first and then when you find out WOW! I didn’t see that coming and I hope this isn’t the last I see of V.

That’s all I’m telling you, you will just have to read it for yourself to see why I was blown away.
I WANT MORE V!!!

Laney
“Hello?”
“Zach, don’t say my name,” I choke out, storming across the lot as fast as my shaking legs will carry me.
“What’s wrong? Where’d you-“ his voice comes loud and worried through the phone.
“Don’t say that!” I interrupt, God, how embarrassing. “Can you walk away from everyone and talk to me for a minute? Where no one can hear you.” My voice is nasally and obnoxious, getting on my own nerves.
“Yeah Mom, hang on.” Zach- not a great actor. “Okay Laney, I’m by myself now,” he whispers.
“I’m sorry I bailed on practice, and I’m sorry to bug you now, but I need a Zach of infinite wisdom fix real bad right about now.”
“Let’s pretend I don’t already know what’s up your ass and you go ahead. It’ll give you a chance to vent.”
Alright, so that almost makes me grin.
“Basically, he just hung on that bitch in front of me just to piss me off, and it worked! Seriously? I don’t do that shit to him! Nothing I did was to purposely hurt him. How long did I absolutely torture myself NOT to hurt him Zach, huh? A long ass time!” I come up for air, waiting for him to tell me how right I am while I climb in my truck.
“Laney, you know I love you, right?”
This can’t be good.
“Yes…”
“Then you know it’s with love when I say this.” Dramatic pause that makes my skin crawl. “Get over yourself! I don’t care if he fucked her on the field and asked you to film it. You may not have meant to, but you destroyed that kid. He’s here with no friends, no girl and a new team. Sound familiar? He’s just trying to put one foot in front of the other every day, just like you did. You got your happily ever after, so back the fuck off and let him try to find his.”
Well then. Zach-1. Laney-0.
It hurts, not even gonna pretend it doesn’t, but his words are honest…and absolutely dead on. It angers me at myself for being the cause of such sad, but true words, describing the crushing of my Evan. It’s a lot to think on and I have to do that now, before I cruise right out of control.
“You’re right Zach. That’s why I call you. I’ll always get the straight-up what I need to hear. Thanks.”
“I luv ya Laney. Don’t be mad at me, but much like yourself, don’t ask for my advice if you don’t want it.”
I chuckle, “God, if that isn’t the truth. You’re harsh, but right. I’m not mad, I swear. Now go coach! I’ll talk to ya later.”
“Later Laney.”
I hang up and stare out my windshield, pondering. Zach is right, I’m being a selfish bitch.

~Joni’s Review~

I loved that Embrace picked up exactly where Emerge left off. Yes, I was like so many rooting for Dane in Emerge, but I had great love for Evan. SE reminded me exactly why I loved him in Embrace.

Evan is a southern gentleman even at such a young age and I adored that about him. All I wanted was for him to find love and be happy.

I also have to admit that I didn’t like Whitley when I first met her in Emerge, but after learning more about her I discovered that she was simply misunderstood and no one ever really gave her a chance. I fell in love with Whitley a little more with every page I read.

The building of the relationship between Evan and Whitley was absolute perfection. I was laughing so hard at his attempts at dating and her saving the day. I loved these two together.

Of course all the others are here also and it goes without saying that I am head over heels in love with the whole gang. I cannot wait to see what happens in the next book. It is one of my most anticipated reads.

Prologue
Lettuce, detergent, apple juice, sugar...oh, and some more of those yummy oatmeal cookies the deli makes fresh every morning. I also need to remember to stop off and drop off my dry cleaning.
"Oh baby, you feel so good." Gary moans.
Pulled out of my thoughts and mental to-do-list, I am back in the miserable present. I add in a quick, "Umm...you too," and another fake moan for good measure.  At least one of us seems to be enjoying themselves.
I wish Gary would hurry up and finish so he can roll off of me and pass out. I am surprised that he has managed to make it past his usual five minutes of rutting on me without blowing his load yet.  How did my life get so pathetic? My friends talk about their sex lives all the time and how erotic and hot they are. I have never experienced that.
Gary was my first. My first real passionate kiss, my first serious boyfriend, my first orgasm from a guy (might not have been earth shattering, but it was still my first), and my first love. He was the handsome quarter back of our high school football team and I was ecstatic that out of all the girls following him around, he chose me. Even back then I knew we would be together forever. He was sweet, good looking, and considered a major catch. Lord, what girl in her right mind would not want a tall, built, athletic man with wavy brown hair and dark brown eyes to match?
We finished high school, joined the same college not far from home, and moved into our first apartment together right after graduation, a little over a year ago. I always thought sex was nice and my friends were just sluts who got off on things most normal girls did not enjoy. Normal girls like me. I want to be a slut who enjoys those things. Anything has to be better than making mental to-do-lists while a man sweats all over you and grunts like a pig.
Half the time I forget he is even doing anything, until I hear that stupid squeal he does at the end when he shoots his wad. That is when I remember to ooh and ahh before turning over and falling asleep. I want more. I want what my friends have. Hell, I want an orgasm from a man that makes me see stars, forget my name, and leaves me limp like a worn out doll.
"Oh yeah, that is it...Ahhhhhhh." Gary squeals and his body tenses right before collapsing on top of me.  I kiss his shoulder and tell him the all too familiar lie that he was amazing, before rolling to my side and pulling my cotton nightgown back over my body. I hide the single tear that escapes my watery eyes before he has a chance to notice that I am upset.
I am not even sure if anyone is to blame for the lack of zest between us. I tried a few times to spice things up between us before with lingerie, candles, and a few new sex moves I heard my best friends talking about, but it didn't help. Maybe I am the problem. Sometimes I feel like I might be broken.
At only twenty-four I cannot imagine going the rest of my life like this. If it was not for my special pink vibrator I would have probably already shriveled up and died from lack of orgasms. I wonder if anyone could really die from never getting off?
Hearing Gary come back in the room and climb into bed after throwing away the condom, I slowly count to twenty. By the time I reach sixteen I already hear the soft sounds of his snoring that lets me know he is out for the night. He doesn't deserve my lies. He deserves a woman that actually enjoys his caresses and tender love making.
I really can't do this anymore. Closing my eyes I breathe a sigh of contentment. Come tomorrow I am going to leave. No more faking orgasms. The next time I moan for a man it will be because he actually did something to earn it. Gary will be pissed at first, but he will thank me later in life. I am doing this as much for him as for me. He deserves to be truly happy as much as I do.
A sliver of excitement mixed with fear stirs in my belly. Gary is all I have ever known and I have never lived on my own before. Even in college I lived with my girlfriends. My mental to-do-list has a whole new set of things added onto it as I map out my day. I smile as I succumb to sleep realizing that for once in my life I have a chance to live and be that girl I never dared to be.

Anonymously Yours by C. Shell

~Joni’s Review~

Kelly Dawson wanted more than she had with her longtime boyfriend, Gary. Deciding that holding onto their relationship wasn’t fair to either of them she decides to let him go. She wants what she has heard her friends talk about.
She wanted passion.

Daemon Scott is a major playboy, who loves ‘em and leaves ‘em. That is until he meets Kelly. He is determined to make her his. After Kelly runs from him the first time, Daemon seeks out the help of her best friend.

When Kelly receives the first gift signed Anonymously Yours she knows instantly who it’s from. She can’t risk losing her dream job for a night of pleasure at this playboy’s hands.
As time passes, Kelly relents and gets exactly what she was looking for. Passion.

Just when everything was going perfect it all falls apart.

I read this book in a matter of a couple of hours. It grabbed my attention and held it throughout. There are some errors that were missed during editing, but these do not take away from the story line at all. I also have to say that I didn’t see the ending coming and cannot wait to continue this story.

4.5 BIG Stars!!!

Touching!!  ~ 5 Stars ~ S. Bachovin
“Loved this book. So touching. Made me cry. Can't wait to read more from this author.”

What she didn’t expect, was meeting a dangerously handsome stranger in an art gallery. He is charming, sexy as hell, and does funny things to her insides. Her frozen heart slowly melts as he seduces her, awakening her deepest desires, showing her that the kind of love she craves is very possible. She wants him as much as he wants her.
Battling his demons from the past, famous photographer Nicholas Gallagher has successfully evaded serious relationships, earning him the title of the world’s most eligible bachelor. But from the moment he lays eyes on Natalie, she stirs something in him. Compelled to chase the sadness from her vivid blue eyes, Nick is captivated by the spirited Australian beauty.
Hot romance.
Steamy sex.
Absolute perfection.
Until Natalie gets a call from home – one she can’t ignore.  In a fateful moment the game changes and throws her life into chaos. Gabriel, her jealous ex, wants her back. Two powerful men want her. She is forced to make a choice that will tear her apart.
Will Natalie make the right choice? Will she finally find her soul mate, the one person who can look into her eyes and see deep into her soul, everything she is and everything she desires… will she finally open her eyes?
A Stand-alone Novel.

~Joni’s Review~

I am at a loss for the words that I need to actually do this book the justice I feel it deserves. Open Your Eyes was different for me than anything I have ever read. I love a book that grabs a hold of your emotions and owns them from them beginning.

Jani Kay did an AMAZING job of owning my emotions. It was like I stepped inside this book and lived it right along with Natalie and Nick. I don’t think I have ever connected with a book as much as I did this one. When they felt pain I felt it as if it was my own. I sat here and sobbed through so many parts absolutely heartbroken.

I completely understood the turmoil Natalie was facing and the decisions she made. That doesn’t mean I liked it or it hurt any less. I adored Nick and Natalie together and knew what they had was beyond special and meant to be. But things don’t always go as planned.

“Sometimes we are stuck in our own reality; we don’t see the options open to us. We are stuck in our way of thinking believing that is the only way our loves can be.” ~Nick~

Now that I have bared my emotions to you all here goes the review…
Natalie is in New York with her daughter, Olivia. When Natalie decides she’s had enough shopping for the day her daughter convinces her to go back to the hotel and they will meet up later. Natalie finds herself in the Museum of Modern Art where she meets a tall, dark, and handsome stranger.

Nick was drawn to Natalie from the moment he saw her and he was determined to get to know her. She was just the type of woman he had always wanted and Nick always gets what he wants.

They spent every day together it was so sweet and beautiful at times. All Natalie wanted was to be seen and Nick saw her unlike anyone else ever had.
When everything seemed to be absolutely perfect in their world, Natalie gets a call that changes everything. My heart hurt so much through this part, for Nick and Natalie.

Natalie and her “husband” have been separated for two years he went on with life and lived it up while she stood still. She wanted to fix her marriage even though he told her he no longer wanted her. That is until he found out that she was moving on with Nick. Now Gabe wants it all back.

Now Natalie faces a decision that could rip her to pieces. She must choose between what she sees as her responsibility and what she really wants and needs.

“I was at a crossroad; I had to make a choice soon. Too many hearts were dependent on my decision.” ~ Natalie~

Nick wants Natalie, would give everything in his life up for her, will she give him the chance?

“She thinks I’m strong. That I can survive this. Jesus fucking Christ! Doesn’t she realize she is my life?” ~Nick~

There is so much I cannot tell you about this book without taking a chance of ruining it for you. I absolutely refuse to spoil this one!! I lived this book if I could give it more than 5 stars I would it’s that great.

Not only is it heartbreakingly beautiful it’s hot as hell!!

Download it, read it, live it!!

5 HUGE STARS!!!!

~Joni’s Review~

Sophia is a good girl. She’s a school librarian. She has a boyfriend that bores her to death inside and outside the bedroom. Once she is alone though she cuddles up with her book boyfriends and lives vicariously through them.

She wants a man like the one’s she reads about.

She receives a friend request on Facebook from Kayden Michaels. Instantly captivated by his beautiful green eyes. But she’s leery of him since she doesn’t know him. After a short chat she finds out that they have some common friends. After seeking out a mutual friend and learning Kayden is a good guy she accepts his friendship.

Who knew that chatting online could lead to so much more. After many weeks they finally start talking on the phone. Eventually Kayden talks Sophia into coming to NOLA and meeting him face to face.

Now here is where it gets HOT!!

Kayden is a bad boy with a somewhat shady past. He made mistakes in his life that he is still paying heavily for. He wasn’t looking for anything when he first “met” Sophia online. He got a lot more that he expected.

This was a true love story. What happens when you fall in love and everything around you starts falling apart. Can you stand by them as their life spirals out of control? If you truly love someone than yes you can.

 I was hooked into this book and read it in no time. There were a few parts that were a little repetitive, but it was a great story and it was extremely HOT.

5 TRUE LOVE & HOT STARS!!

~~~Feisty Girls Review~~~
~~~Joni’s Review~~

I will do my best to break it down without any spoilers.

Starting out with present day, you really get a feel for the way Skylar and Sebastian live their life after such a terrible tragedy seven years ago. Then you get to live that night with them both.

Fate seems to bring them back together time and time again. And even knowing what I knew about Sebastian, I absolutely loved him. I felt like these two people could heal each other. That they needed one another to survive all that life has thrown at them.

Sebastian isn’t the only man that has captured Skylar’s attention. There is also Lucas Drake.

There are so many secrets they are both hiding to protect the other. Secrets that could tear them apart. When all comes out into the open will they be able to pick up the pieces of their shattered hearts.

I loved all the different POV’s. I always knew what was going on with all the characters.

From the first page I was hooked. Sucked right into this story and help there until the very end. There is so much I want to say but can’t without taking the chance on ruining this absolutely terrific book for you.

IT IS A MUST READ!!

5 GIGANTIC STARS!!!

~Meli’s Review~

Ok, first off I have to say that this book gripped me from literally the first page.

We meet Skylar on her 16th birthday. While out celebrating her entire life is shattered in one instant. She learned from that day its better to hold everything in and protect the ones around her.

Sebastian holds his on secrets. He is haunted by what happened 7 years ago everynight. Every night he sees those amazing eyes staring back at him.

When Sebastian and Skykar meet for the first time I can completely feel their chemistry from the moment they lay eyes on eachother.

As they begin to feel something for eachother their past come back in play and tear them apart. And of course Sebastian isnt the only man trying to win Skylar's heart.

Can these two overcome their paths and find their way to each other or will their secrets keep them apart forever.

All I have to say is I could not put this book down. I was literally in tears just reading the prologue.  And sitting on the edge of my seat the entire time.

Mia did an excellent job with making me feel their emotions and everything that they went through. I can not wait to continue their journey.

Completely and amazingly 5 stars

We would give Rose of Thorne all the stars in the sky if we could. We loved it that much!!

Ivy

He is everywhere.
In my thoughts.
In my dreams.
In my air.

I’m trying to fight my attraction to Taron, but my heart doesn’t seem to listen to my mind.  I know it’s a disaster waiting to happen if I give in, yet I still keep thinking of the possibilities.

He has a past.  So do I.
He loves to flirt.  So do I.
He will be leaving to go on tour tomorrow.  I won’t.

He was there for me when I thought I lost my best friend.  The title ‘best friend’ doesn’t really do what we have justice.  Eaven is my sister.  We may come from different blood, but in all aspects that count we are family.  A couple of months ago Eaven was kidnapped and driven into the river by her boyfriend’s ex.  Taron never left my side the entire time we were searching for her or when she was recovering in the hospital.  He has been to my apartment to check on me daily since Eaven has been staying with Talon to recover.
Don’t get me wrong.  He has continuously made advances toward me since we found out Eaven was going to be ok.  He flirts non-stop, but I’m a girl who likes all of that attention.  I just don’t want to share my attention with other girls.
I have to decide if I can handle sharing him before I give myself to him completely.  After all he is the lead singer in the band ‘Rebel Walking’.  They are going to be gone more on tour now.  This will be their second time to go on tour with main stream bands.  They were such a huge success the first time, they were chosen to be the opening band at every single one of ‘Beckoning Reality’s‘ concerts.  I heard all of the details from Taron when he called to check on me while he was away on the first tour.
I’ve managed to fight him off until this point, but I’m sure since he leaves in the morning, he will be trying extra hard tonight to get me to cave.
Smitty has kicked off a celebration to send the band off in style.  It looks like everyone has shown up to see the band one last time.  This place is packed.
Eaven and I went shopping for new outfits this week.  She wants to look exceptional tonight since she is sending her fiancé off for four weeks.  She is just recently engaged to Talon and they are perfect for each other.  I am so excited that she found someone who makes her happy and treats her right.  He just happens to look identical to the guy that I am fighting myself to not like.  Talon and Taron Walker are identical twins.  The story of the two sisters falling in love with twin bad boys is one that never comes true.

I look over and see Taron at the band’s reserved table talking to his twin.  My eyes shift to his broad shoulders and the dark, tight shirt that doesn’t leave much to the imagination.  I’ve been in his arms a few times and I know that his chest and stomach are sculpted and just as defined as the shirt makes it appear.  He has dark hair, almost black.  He wears it messy so that it looks like he just got out of bed.  The look really works for him.  I know that he does put effort into his hair because I have been stuck waiting on him to get ready.
He jumps up to pester his older brother Holden and I begin to appreciate the view of his ass in those jeans.  His jeans hang just right, just the way I love to see.  I’ve never let him know that I appreciate how he looks.  He would never let me live it down if I did.
Eaven leaves me to make her way to Talon.  I see Taron begin to search the room as soon as he sees her arrive.  He spots me and starts to look me up and down.  His eyes never leave me as he stalks across the room.
“Poison Ivy!  It is such a pleasure to see you out for the kill tonight.”  He takes his index finger and runs it down my chest and into the valley of my cleavage causing my shirt to lower.  He stops just before he exposes me.
“Do you want to lose that finger?”  I really want him to continue, but I would never tell him that.
“I would love for you to take my entire finger.”  He removes his digit from my chest and I know his meaning behind his reply.  He has never been shy about his sexual desire with me.
“In your dreams.”  I turn away from him to begin my walk to the table.  He stops me after only a few steps.  He grabs my hips and holds me against him.  I can feel him invading my space again.  He is consuming all of my senses.  He leans down to whisper in my ear.
“Yea that pretty much sums it up.”
My body heats up as his breath blows past my ear.  The sensation sends a shiver through my body and heat straight to my core.  He holds me so close that I can feel how much he wants me as it presses into my backside.
“When are you going to quit playing hard to get?  You know we will be hot together.  You know you want what only I can give you.”  He begins to sway back and forth with the music.
I want what he is offering me so much.  I want to let go and ride the roller coaster that is Taron.  I know there will be ups and downs.  I just don’t know if I can hang on until the end and exit the ride safely.  I don’t know if he will break my heart.
Usually I don’t let myself get attached to a guy.  We have fun and then say our goodbyes.  Taron managed to work his way into my life in a way that we are so beyond a simple affair without strings.  I just don’t know if he is capable of what I want.
I want him.  All of him.  To myself.  No sharing.

“I don’t want to share,” I say through the lump in my throat.
“I don’t have any intentions of sharing you.”  He flips me around to face him.  He guides my arms over his shoulders and slowly drags his hands back down my arms, down my sides, and then around my waist.  He flattens both of his hands out on my butt cheeks and presses me further into him.  We continue to sway with the music.
I look into his eyes.  I can see desire.  I can see the same heat that I feel.  I decide to give in.  I pull him down to meet my lips.  He doesn’t waste any time joining my tongue.  I know he is a great kisser.  We have already established the hot chemistry between us once before.  He continues to press himself into me and the pressure makes me crave more of him.
“Spend the night with me.”  He is begging me through the tone of his voice.
I bow my head in thought and he kisses my forehead.  He uses his large hands to guide my head back up to look at him.  He closes his eyes as he nears me and begins to softly kiss my lips.  This gentle side of him is my undoing.
“My place isn’t as crowded.  I’m pretty sure you won’t want your brothers to hear what I have planned for you.”  I nibble on his bottom lip as I pull away from his lips.
“Fuuuuccckk Me.”  He has a huge smile on his face.

“I have to sing a few songs and then you are mine.”  He holds me tight until the rest of the band has taken the stage.  When Talon and Luke start to play, he finally releases me.  “Don’t go anywhere.  I want to watch you while I am on stage.”
I stay exactly where he leaves me.  I enjoy the songs so much more this time.  It seems like he is singing them directly to me.  His eyes are intense and he never really looks anywhere but at me.  The crowd is still going wild trying to get his attention.  Panties and bras are thrown up at him, but he never averts his attention away from me.
I feel someone up against my back and I turn to see who is standing this close to me.  It’s Dylan.  His job relocated him a couple of months back.  We went out a couple of times, but we weren’t exclusive.
“Hey Dylan.”  I smile at him and place my hand on his arm stepping sideways just a little to give myself some room.
“Ivy.  How is my girl?”  The way he just said my girl irritates me.  He grips my arm very tightly and I yank it from his grip.  What the hell is his problem?
“I am not anyone’s girl.”
Aiden is next to me in a matter of seconds.  Aiden and I have been friends since we met.  In the beginning he wanted to be more than friends.  I think he finally realized that my feelings for Taron are much deeper than I let on and he backed off.  He started dating another girl, but we still talk daily.  We sometimes meet for dinner or drinks when he has time.  He is pure country.  He is pure country cowboy with a perfect gentleman demeanor.
“Get your hands off of Ivy.”  Aiden is in Dylan’s face the instant he can be.
“You got a problem, cowboy?”  Dylan pushes Aiden back.
“Lay a hand on a girl and you are the one with a big problem.  It will be the last time you use your hands.”  Aiden is dead serious with his threat.  “Let’s take this outside.”  The cowboys surround Dylan.
Taron busts through the crowd that has surrounded us.  He slams into Dylan’s chest with the rage of a fighter.  His force slams Dylan to the ground.  Taron has his arm pressing into Dylan’s throat causing him to gasp for air.
“You touch her again, motherfucker, and I will personally make sure that you never live to see tomorrow.”  It takes four guys to pull Taron off of Dylan.  The cowboys escort Dylan out of the bar and Taron is outraged.
“What the fuck!”  He begins to yell in anger.
“Chill out brother.”  Talon attempts to calm his twin down.
“What did he say to you?  Why is he grabbing you like that?  Why is cowboy saving the fucking day?”  He is full of questions that I don’t know the answer to.
“He just grabbed my arm tightly and asked how his girl was doing.  I told him that I am not anyone’s girl and then Aiden was there.  Calm down, please.”  I’m starting to feel the stress of him being this angry.  My childhood was spent with different men beating on my mother every day.  They used to talk to her and look at her like he is talking to me right now.  I don’t think he would ever hit me, but his rage is causing old memories to surface that I am not ready to deal with right now.
“Aiden saves the motherfucking day.  Doesn’t he?”  He is angry with me.  Why is he so pissed at me?
“Aiden is just a friend.  What is your problem?”  I grab him by the collar of his t-shirt and pull his face to mine.  “Jealous much?”
“No one should be touching you like that.”
“I agree and it has been handled.  Please don’t ruin tonight for us.”  I beg him as I hold him an inch from my face trying to get him to focus on me.  He finally calms down just as Smitty shows up to see what is going on.  I’m thankful that Smitty loves these guys.  I’m positive that all of our asses would have been tossed if they weren’t the band that fills this bar every time they schedule.
“I’m done tonight.  The show is over.”  Taron begins to yell at everyone that is surrounding us.  The DJ starts to play some music and the crowd finally moves away.
“I’m ready to break out of here.”  He looks frustrated as he looks at me over his shoulder.  He has a hold of my hand and our arms are extended between us since I haven’t moved.  I see Eaven looking at us with a smile on her face.
I decide to walk in her direction and Taron follows staying attached to my hand.  “We’re going to head out.”  She knows what we’re leaving to do.  She knows me better than I know myself sometimes.  She leans over to hug me and manages to whisper in my ear so that Taron can’t hear.
“Be careful my friend.”  Then she leans into a hug with him.  She whispers something in his ear that I can’t hear.

Taron
“Hurt her, and I will kill you.”  Eaven’s threat is heard loud and clear.  I have witnessed the bond that these two share, and I know they will always protect each other.  My future sister-in-law is a feisty survivor and I don’t plan to cross her.  She has proven that she will fight for those she loves.

It takes entirely too long to exit the club.  People are everywhere and every time I turn around some girl from one of my past hookups is lingering in my view waiting for the opportunity to ‘meet’ up with me.  I know Ivy can sense what these girls are after because she gets defensive before we get out the door.
“Jealous much?”  I decide the best way to approach this is to be playful and throw her words right back at her.
“Um…. No.  Like I have always said, if you want ‘cock rot’ feel free to play the field, just don’t expect me to hang around.”  She is extremely sassy with that fucking mouth of hers.  It is what I love and hate so much about her equally.  She is a breath of fresh air compared to all of the groupies that I am flooded with constantly.
I have been holding out for Ivy since we started spending so much time together after Eaven’s accident.  “There’s no ‘cock rot’ here.  My dick may fall off from lack of use lately, but I know that I’m clean.  I always wrap it and I get tested regularly.”
I have to protect myself from the lot lizards of the concert scene.  They will agree with everything I say or want to do.  It’s like they are spineless females that expect me to give them a great fuck and then they know the drill.  They head out.  I may hit four girls in the same night if I start at the club.
I haven’t had any interest in any of them lately.  Been there, fucked that.
There is a sexy brunette that has had all of my attention.  I love a challenge.  She acts like she isn’t interested in me, but I know that if she has a taste, she will love it.  I can’t wait to see if that sassy mouth is just as feisty in the bedroom.  If it is, I may not be able to stand it.

~~Feisty Girls Review’s~~

~~Melissa’s Review~~

First off we have Taron the hot front man for the band Rebel Walking. We met him in In a Heartbeat (book 1) and he was the bad boy player of the twins. What he wanted he got. He had women lined up to have just one night with him and that all changed when he met Ivy.
Ivy is like Taron but the woman version. She flirts and plays the field, not looking to settle down. She meets Taron and knows instantly that he is trouble but finds it hard to resist him.

In Heaven Sent we get their story.

Taron is getting ready to go out on tour and doesn't want to go without getting what he wants before he leaves, and that something is Ivy. On their final night he asks her to spend the night with him and she finally gives in. He knows now that there is now way he can live his life like he was and he needs to make a change so he keep Ivy. Ivy knows she has fallen hard but unfortunately unforeseen events happen that leave Ivy broken and Taron confused and broken.

Taron and Ivy must try to push past the events that occur to be able to get their happily ever after. Unfortunately Ivy thinks Taron is better off without her and she leaves him only to find out she needs him but cant have him. At least that is what she has burned into her brain.

Taron knows she is hiding something and does everything he can to get her back. He would go to the ends of the earth for Ivy.

Do they get their happily ever after or does the unforeseen events rip them apart for good?

When I met Taron and Ivy in In a Heartbeat I instantly felt their chemistry and knew they were going to burn up the sheets together. What I wasn’t prepared for was how the author kept me sitting on pins and needles waiting for things to happen and at times wanting to strangle both of them. The author does an amazing job with this book and I feel like she completely portrayed the feelings and events perfectly. I can not wait to hear more from the characters in the coming books in this series.

This one deserves way more the 5 stars but since that is the top of the rating systems I give it
5 RIDICULOUSLY HUGE STARS

 ~~~Joni’s Review~~~
Rebel Walking is back and this time it’s all about Taron & Ivy. These two are a perfect match for the other. I loved the vibes between them in In A Heartbeat and Hilary turned up the heat in Heaven Sent!!
Taron’s bad boy ways have come to a halt because all he wants is Ivy. With one night left before Rebel Walking goes on tour he’s more determined then ever to have her.
Ivy has fought her attraction to Taron for long enough. She knows he’s leaving, she refuses to share him, yet she can’t push him away this time.
OH MY HELL it was HOT! Panty melting indeed.
After such a great night together Ivy wakes up to find Taron gone, but she’s not alone. I did not see what happens next coming and I felt so much for her in this moment.
When Taron learns the truth about what happened that night he does all in his power to take care of Ivy. A whole new side of Taron is shown and I absolutely fell in love with him.
Things aren’t always what they seem and insecurities and doubt has Ivy running.
Will Taron let her go or will he fight for her?
What will he do when he faces the person that hurt Ivy and he learns some news that could change his whole life?
I fell in love with Taron and Ivy and loved their story. It was absolutely perfect for these two and showed sides of them we haven’t seen before. Hilary did a great job with the obstacles she threw in their way.
Heaven Sent gets 5 HUGE ROCKIN’ STARS!!!
~~~Joni’s Review~~~

We meet Victoria and her best friend Sage in the prologue and really get a feel for how close these two women are. When Sage needs help she turns to Victoria, who is there with open arms.

One night while out with her closest friends, unbeknown to her she is spotted by Leland Ambrose. Instantly he is drawn to her and has to know who she is.

When Monday morning rolls around and Victoria is asked by her current boss to sit in on a meeting  with the big boss she cannot figure out why Mr. Ambrose is starring a hole through her.

Leland can’t believe that the woman from the bar was sitting in on his board meeting. He had to meet her. This is an easy task for the him. After all his is the boss. A boss who is only in town for a few months to oversee his Atlanta office so of course he needs a new secretary.

Victoria just happens to be a secretary.

From here their relationship builds and has a few ups and downs. Until one day Victoria is filing some papers for Leland and runs across one that can tear them apart.

I enjoyed this book. It moved at a very brisk pace, there was never a time I thought “hurry up and get to the point,” the sex was hot, and I was never bored. I was flipping pages to see what Leland would do next to get what he wanted. I liked Victoria even though I felt she was somewhat irrational and I wanted to shake her and tell her to get over it. I really liked the secondary characters, Sage, Carter, Nick, and Connor. I would like to know more about them.  The ending came a little fast for me. I would have liked a little more. But that’s what an author is supposed to do, leave you wanting more.

4 Big Stars!!

To give is a virtue. But to give your very self, the ultimate bequest. Offered in love, it can be wondrous. Offered in desperation, it can be deadly.

In Book Two of this three-part epic, young and tempting Kate Simmons at last seemed to have reached a safe haven of happiness when she moved in with Neil, ambitious and persevering, both in his legal practice and his love life. Taking great care to protect his trophy and the surprise he had in mind for Kate, Neil hired security to accompany his soon-to-be fiancée on a scavenger hunt of a lifetime. As Book Three continues their saga, it is life itself that is in the balance when Kate becomes the hunted as the jilted Roger snatches his prey.

The obsessed minds of Neil and Roger now take aim squarely at each other — with a bare and exposed Kate directly in the crossfire. Knowing her very life will be the winner’s spoil, Kate stares agony in its ghastly face as it approaches for the death dance.

There is no time, no place, no safety in a war of fixation. A war in which the winner will be either the last one standing, or the last one to die.

"Given to You" is Book 3 of this New Adult Romance series. The first book is "Fallen for You". Book 2 "Taken by You."

~~ ~Joni’s Review~~~

****SPOILER ALERT****

If you haven’t read Fallen for You and Taken by You DO NOT read my review!!!
While reading both book 1 & 2 I was on the edge of my seat with goose bumps and turning pages as fast as I could to see what Roger would do next. I literally checked my doors and windows before I went to bed and said I’d never live in an apartment again. I love books like that; you know the one’s where you think “oh shit this could really happen to me!”

So by the time I got to the last page in Taken by You I was lost! I dropped my kindle and walked around my house in a daze. My family thought I was crazy. I was saying things like this…
“Oh my God he found her. She was doing so well and then BAM there he was. He’s crazy! He has a body in the trunk, his son drugged in the backseat and now he has Kate!!”
Then my worry for Neil kicked in.. “Neil is waiting for her in a hotel room and he’s going to lose his shit when she doesn’t show.”

See why my family thinks I am crazy? I was so upset talk about a cliffy! I thought I was going to have to stalk Carlie to get the answers I so desperately needed. She had mercy on me and made my day this week when I found Given to You waiting in my email.

Spoilers will be minimum from here on out.

This book picks up exactly where Taken by You left off. Yes the body was still in the trunk, the son was still drugged in the backseat, and Roger has Kate. OMG!! Already first chapter I’m biting my nails what is he going to do next?

Kate knows the best thing for her to do is play along with Roger and pretend he is who she wants to be with. Even though he makes her skin crawl every time he touches her. Roger takes her to a cabin where no one can bother them for some much needed alone time.

Poor Neil is beside himself when he can’t find Kate. He will do whatever he can to find her and get to her before Roger can harm her. My heart was pounding when he finds her and went after Roger. Fists are thrown and I didn’t know who was going to win this one.

It’s not over yet, oh no that would be too easy. HE GOT AWAY!!
Roger is hiding and plotting on how to get Kate back. His obsession has grown and he is determined to have her.

Some of the things that Roger discloses to Kate make you understand how he became who he is today. I said it before I will say it again. Roger is a high functioning sociopath. He seems to be a normal guy who you would never expect to be a serial killer, someone that could very well be your neighbor. Scary huh?

Neil and Kate go on with their lives even with the fear that Roger can come after her at any time. The police are clueless as to where he is, but they are stacking evidence against him.

However, Roger isn’t their only concern. There is another who wants Neil’s attention. She has bided her time for years and isn’t happy with the way things are going between Neil & Kate. These two can’t catch a break.

While others are plotting against them, they are slipping away together to take a step toward their future. Let me just say I loved this part. It was so sweet and then it was very HOT!

Everything was going well and Neil & Kate are about to have their big day. The one who wants Neil’s attention isn’t done just yet. When she can’t succeed with him she sets off to see Kate. Talk about a nefarious bitch. However she’s not the only one out to threaten this happy event for them. Guess who’s waiting to ruin their happily ever after. Roger!!

The closer I got to the end the faster my heart beat I knew at any moment he was going to show up and had no idea what would happen when he did. This man is absolutely deranged and thinks everything he does is out of love. I’m not going to ruin the ending for you. I can’t do it but I loved it!!

I have to say that this one was my favorite out of the three. I could feel the love between Neil and Kate and it has grown with each book. There were those moments where I sighed and thought that was so damn sweet. I love these two together. I also really love the side characters Charlie and Mitch & Natalie and Mac and can’t wait to read more about them as well.

So once again Carlie you have kept me on the edge of my seat with goose bumps and biting my nails with the suspense.

If you like a great suspenseful read with some hot sexy scenes to go along with it then this series is for you. You MUST read the them in order.

5 HUGE Stars!!

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you had one chance to be with your soul mate, would you fight for it?
Sometimes the hardest fight isn't finding love, sometimes its fighting against the ticking clock of your life.
Stalked by the shadow of a foreboding disease, seventeen year old, Harper Kennedy finds herself starting a new life in Albany Missouri. With a ticking time bomb, a wall of quotes, a shell of a father and a brother who has no one else, Harper tries to get life in order for those she may be leaving behind.
But fate is cruel when it delivers temptation in the form of Vaun Campbell into her life; Vaun who is kind and sweet and completely out of her league on so many levels. How can Harper find love only to have it ripped away so soon? How can she put Vaun, who has faced more than his own fair share of loss and grief in the past, through all that again?
~~Melissa’s Review~~
First off I knew beforehand that I would need to have some tissue lying around and man on some parts that is exactly what I needed.
We meet Harper, she is a 17 year old highschool student with a secret. Not a secret like any other high school girls but one that not only changes her life but changes and effects her family and friends. Her family moves to a new town to be closer to where she can get help.The only person she knows is her cousin. Her cousin is an outgoing and spunky teenager and she knows what Harper is up against but she tries to get her just to live in the moment. In walks Vaun and Harpers world immediately changes.
From the moment Vaun meets Harper he knows she is different and after spending time talking with her he knows there is more to her than any other girl he has ever been with. Vaun himself has a past where the one thing that mattered most to him was taken by a nasty disease. His world seemed to come full circle with Harper in his arms and he knew he would do anything to keep her their. Only she had another plan.
Harper’s plan was to not get close to anyone so when the time came, no one would be broken over what happens to her. She already felt like she would be letting her father and brother down and knew she could have someone in that mix. Vaun had another idea, and idea where he would be her everything. Her rock.
I immediately fell in love with Vaun. He has already been through so much that when he found out what was going on with Harper any normal teenage boy would have run. Not Vaun. He stayed and became the one thing Harper needed in her life.
The author did an amazing job with this story, she kept me wanting more and not expecting what was going to happen. I understand that some people might think that they are only 17 and haven’t known each other very long how can they be thinking that they are each other's soul mates. But I think when forced into a situation like Harper was you really do live life day to day and look for the best in people and sometimes you find just what you need.
I give this awesome book 4 HUGE STARS
Excerpt:
In one swift, deliberate movement I have her under me. My hands braced on either side of her head; they look big compared to her petite face. Her long hair is spread across the red blanket and I know I’ll keep that damn rug forever. I want to tell her about my tattoo, about my mother, but not now. I study her, her wide bright, blue eyes. They’re most phenomenal in the world; like the colour of the Blue Jays in my mother’s nesting box. I gaze at her for the longest time, our breaths mingling and that in itself has me thinking how much more I want her. Not just as friends, screw friendship. I want her to be mine, to hold her, to kiss her, to keep safe. I don’t even realise I’m getting closer to her until she licks her lips, almost touching mine and I can see she can’t deny what she’s feeling any more than I can. As soon as her eyes flutter closed I close my lips down on her and taste the deliciousness of my blue bird.
MEET KERRI
Some might say I shouldn’t be alive today…I like to think that I’m exactly where I should be! I’m a cancer survivor. A very lucky and thankful survivor. I had to fight hard and go through more than most teenagers and I hope I reflected some of the emotion into Harpers story. But firstly, let me tell you a little about my fight against non-Hodgkin lymphoma. I was a typical teenager, 11 years old and just started high school and liking boys. I loved running and one day during a track run my groin began to hurt. Nothing outrageously out of the norm for a runner who didn’t stretch well and I put it down to a strain. I had a lingering cold, just like normal kids in the mountains, but what wasn’t normal was the lump in my groin. At eleven I didn’t know it shouldn’t be there. I thought it was just a gland, no biggy. I was very wrong. I went on for weeks with this cold and antibiotics, I and my children have been through them just this winter. The only difference was, this wasn’t just a cold. My last visit to the doctor, he was placing me on stronger drugs and asked if there was anything else bugging me and that’s when I said those three dreadful words…’My lump hurts.’ You can imagine the look between my mother and the doctor. From there it all happened quickly and was quite scary. I was rushed after hours for an Ultrasound and then straight to the Hospital. I didn’t even get to go home and grab Pyjamas, a book or anything. The very next day I was shipped to Campbelltown Childrens Hospital for more tests. Four scans and loads of needles later lying in a cold, hard hospital bed I remember my Dad coming into the room, his eyes bloodshot and he was crying. That’s when I learned I had two weeks to live. You couldn’t get much crappier odds then that. I cry now thinking of my Dad. For my parents who had their own pain. As a mother now, it’s more heartbreaking then going through it myself. I have no idea why, but they started me on aggressive Chemo anyway, denial maybe, I don’t know. It doesn’t matter now either, because it saved my life. I went through endless days of being sick, I would get sick as soon as I entered the hospital which was all in my head, but tell an 11 year old that. The smell for many years still made me sick. Scans, needles, drips, doctors and nurses. Day in, day out. That was my life and my monster. But you know what hurt me the most? Losing my hair. Pft. Sounds ridiculous, right. But imagine a teenage girl with long brown hair who attracted boys turning into a girl with no hair and was dying. Yeah I had beat the clock, but essentially, that’s what I was…a dying girl fighting for a little bit of normal. Needless to say, I beat that clock, beat it to pulp. I have had a couple of scares since, but I’m still kicking it strong and even showed all the specialist wrong by having two wonderful and gorgeous girls of my own after they swore I would not be able to have children. Although hubby thinks he is Superman and I let him. He is another story all together, he is my Vaun. I met Michael when I was sixteen at a party and let’s just say, from then on we have been living out a dream. He didn’t care about odds, illness or my lack of child bearing capabilities, he wanted me. He loved me. And so, here I am, surrounded by love, disease free and using it all in a book for you to read. My fight against the monster and my survival with love is all there for you to read mixed in with a great dash of fiction. Since writing this I have found a beautiful boy who is fighting his own monster and his family need our help. So I’m donating 50 cents in every e-book and $1.00 in every print to go to Chase and his family for as long as it works. His story I have added after mine. Show him the love too. I hope you enjoy my story and I look forward to hearing your feedback and reviews. Love, Kez
What would you give up for everything?
Tristan Stone was powerful, commanding, sex incarnate. And he wore it all so well. From the moment his mesmerizing gaze met mine, I had no choice but surrender to everything he was. His power. His decadence. His passion. He was all I never knew I needed.
He wanted to possess me, and I wanted to be his everything. All I had to do was accept what he offered. But everything has a price.
The world he gave me fulfilled my wildest dreams, but would that be enough when the past crashed into the present?
~~~~Joni’s Review~~~~

I was pulled into this book pretty quickly. The moment that Nina sets eyes on the mysterious stranger surrounded by women it’s either love or lust at first sight. When she’s ready to leave work that night she has a surprise waiting for her. The gorgeous mysterious stranger and he wanted to show her something.

From there Tristan seeks out Nina and offers her a job, a job that she has always wanted yet it’s not exactly what she was expecting. Over the months things aren’t always what they seem and these two people from such different worlds are falling in love.

Throughout the book I was intrigued by Tristan. I couldn’t figure out what he was hiding or why he was so elusive with his monosyllable answers. There are things that Tristan is hiding from Nina and when she finds out it could tear them apart.

Or so I thought. I can’t ruin the ending of this book let’s just say I didn’t see that one coming and know that I cannot wait to read the next book in this series.

I'm giving Crash Into Me 4 Stars

Loose ends left loose for too long tend to strangle. Cole and Violet knew it wouldn’t be easy. They knew their relationship would take work. But when the press finds out about Violet Lynn’s newest boyfriend, they start digging. And when his past come to light, exposing all of his family’s secrets, their relationship begins to fray.

Country Music’s Golden Boy, Jaxon Hunter, has it all, except the girl that got away. What she saw, she really didn’t. What she thought happened, he allowed her to believe for reasons so insane that no one would ever have believed him if he had confessed. But now that everything’s out in the open, he’s going to do his damndest to convince her that he’s the only one for her.

Now Violet must choose between Jaxon— her first love and the guy she thought had cheated on her—and Cole—the guy who helped her heal and love again.

Or will one of them make the decision for her?

~~~~Joni’s Review~~~~
Let me start off by saying I fell in love with Cole and Rae in Live for You and Only for You just made me love these two that much more.
Cole Morgan fell in love with Rae Givens before he knew who she really was. Now that he knows and Nashville has come calling again and it’s time for Rae to go back to being Violet Lynn things aren’t as easy as they once was. Cole thinks he’s plain white trash and not good enough for Rae. Rae loves all of Cole and wants nothing more than to be with him forever.
The past comes calling in the form of Violet Lynn’s ex, Jaxon Hunter and he wants her back. Problem is he’s engaged to her ex best friend and she no longer wants him. Jaxon is determined to prove to her that things aren’t always as they seem.
So many lies and deceit. Treachery is afoot. Questions are answered. How will it all play out? Will Cole and Rae get there happily ever after or will they let others stand in the way?
Marquita Valentine turned up the heat and threw in some heartbreak in Only for You and I cannot wait to see what she has in store for us next! I love this series and highly recommend it!!
Only for You gets 4.5 AMAZING STARS!!
On the surface, twenty-two year old Cole Morgan is exactly what any girl would be proud to take home to meet her parents: He’s charming, intensely handsome and goal-oriented...Only he has some secrets of his own, which include provoking bar fights and a former drug-addict of a mother slowly wasting away in a medical facility.
At barely twenty, Violet Lynn is Country Music's hottest star, until one night of partying gets out of control. Violet ends up in jail and on TMZ. Suddenly, she’s the girl least likely to be invited anywhere. Sick of the drama and keeping secrets, she runs away from the prying eyes of the paparazzi to her grandmother’s home in Forrestville, North Carolina.
A chance meeting knocks Cole off his feet, but he doesn’t recognize Violet for who she is. In fact no one does and Violet plans to keep it that way.
Circumstances, however annoying,keep throwing Violet and Cole together. Unable to stop themselves they give into the inevitable.
But when Nashville is ready to forgive and forget, Violet is forced to choose between Cole and claiming her spot as the new and improved Princess of Country Music.
Will Violet and Cole have the courage to live for their dreams...Or their hearts?
Jeffery Young is tired of women and their games. His son’s mother did enough damage to his heart to last a lifetime. Now, he had to deal with the architect helping the land developers tear up the local ranches for their houses. Not on his watch.
Terri Kennedy had her own plans. As the architect for a large land development in Bandera Texas, the deal would put her business on the map, but dealing with the stubborn, bullheaded male from the local ranch didn’t come with her job description. Maybe staying on their guest ranch would give her some clues as how to handle Mr. Stubborn Jackass.
Will the secrets she’s harboring keep him from getting close?
Can he learn to trust women again or should be play the game to find out what’s she’s up to?
~~~~Joni’s Review~~~~

Jeff Young has been burned big time. His ex wife Misha did one hell of a job on ruining him for any other woman. He doesn’t trust easily at all and the only things that are important to him is his son, his family, and Thunder Ridge. That is until he meets Terri Kennedy.

I really liked Jeff, even though he could be a jackass, you understand why. Ben stole my heart right along with Terri’s. The chemistry between Jeff & Terri is scorching. Is that enough to gain this jaded cowboy’s heart and trust. What will happen when he finds out what Terri’s purpose is on the ranch?

 Everything isn’t as it seems with the developers that hired Terri, but what’s done is done and now she is going back home to Houston.

I really enjoyed this book and couldn’t put it down. From the time that Terri left for Houston to the end I didn’t move from my seat. I had to know what Jeff would do. I was not disappointed.

 I love this family and cannot wait to read about the next brother. Sandy Sullivan does a wonderful job with grabbing your attention and holding it. You will probably be fanning yourself as well these cowboys are HOT!

4 STARS!

In an epic battle between good and evil, young Namon will discover what being the last of his kind truly means- born of a destiny with the power to protect all humanity. He must come to terms with his fate, and seek out the one responsible for his parents deaths and the near extinction of the White Wolves.

The night vampire Aluana meets Namon, she was just out looking for a good time. Needing to escape the fear of her unknown past and origins, she wasn't expecting a harmless dance to have unintended consequences. She finds herself falling in love for what she suspects is the first time. Namon may be the key she needs to unlock hidden memories, but at what cost?

Now the two are caught between mortal enemies and earth's destiny lies in their hands...

~*~ Jennifer's Review~*~

Ask yourself this question, if the fate of the world rested on your shoulders, would you be strong enough to rise to the challenge?  That is the question that Namon has to ask himself.  Orphaned at 7, he has lived the last 10 years with his godmother, Katrina.  As his 18th birthday arrives, the evil forces that took his parents are back to try and kill Namon and take the powerful amulet that would mean the destruction of the world.  Sworn to protect him at all cost, Katrina gives her life to do just that.

Namon learned at a very young age to keep his distance emotionally, because loving someone has meant that he will lose them, but that all changes one night when is sees the beautiful Aluana at the Whiskey River Bar.

Aluana has no memory of her life prior to being "turned" into a Vampire by the evil Cyrus.  For years she has been held captive at his compound in Atlanta.  Now that they are moving to New York, Aluana is enjoying the new found freedom that Cyrus is allowing her.  She has been sheltered all her life, and never thought that she would find love, until the night that she met Namon.

It is love at first sight for these two, and something deep in their souls recognizes the other that they can't explain, but they just know that they need to be together.  That they are each other’s missing half.  When evil threatens to destroy their world, what choice do they have but to fight.

Now Namon, along with a pack of Skin-Walking Werewolves and a tiny Gremlin named Oz, must fight and fight hard if they are going to be able to defeat the evil that is coming.

This is not your typical Vampire verses Werewolf kind of story.  This book has a little bit of everything for everyone.  You like Vampires, this book has it, you like Werewolves, this book has it.  Demon's, Gremlins, Dragons, Wizards?  Yep, this book has it.  This is a great book for young and old.  Nothing too graphic.  The characters are wonderfully written and the story just pulls you in and keeps you hooked.  The author left an opening for more books to come and I will definitely look for more.

I would give this book 4 stars!

How far would you go to find yourself?

That’s the question that’s been haunting Olivia Owens for years.

All Olivia has ever wanted to do is live and make mistakes, but her preacher father has made that impossible. She believes that her years at college will be her ticket into the real world and her chance to be wild and spontaneous.

But she’s never been able to do it on her own.

At the start of her sophomore year, she only has four things crossed off her Live List, but that’s all about to change thanks to a chance encounter with Trace Wentworth. She’s about to learn that there’s more to this reformed bad boy than just his looks and panty dropping smile.

Trace can’t explain what it is that draws him to Olivia.

All he knows is that he wants to get to know the girl with the sad smile but sparkle in her eyes.

When she tells him about her list, he knows that this is his chance to get to know Olivia Owens. Trace is determined to show Olivia that she can do all the things she’s ever wanted to do. So, he begins to help her cross things off her list, even the more outlandish requests.

What happens along the way is more than what Olivia or Trace ever expected.

Love, laughs, and a list.

That’s the name of the game when you’re Finding Olivia.

~~~Melissa’s Review~~~
First we are introduced to Olivia who is a preacher’s daughter trying to find her own way while away at college. Olivia made a list the night before she left for college of things she wanted to do to try and find herself. Move ahead to her sophomore year and she only have 4 things crossed off of her list. She knew she needed to live life but didnt know how.
In comes Trace, I have to say I fell in love with Trace right away, he had the look of a bad boy but heart of gold. Trace and Olivia meet on the side of the road and from there they start a friendship where he helps her live. Trace himself has his own secrets and is just trying to be who he wants to be not what his family wants.
Trace and Olivia slowly start to cross things off her list and during all that time development more than a friendship. When their first happened I thought my kindle was going to catch on fire. Their chemistry it hot and the two of them, one with all the experience in the world and one with pretty much non, made for a great love story.
But of course everything in life doesnt stay perfect. Things happen and Olivia and Trace have to face obstacles together to make it to their happily ever after.
4.5 AMAZING STARS
~~~~Joni’s Review~~~~

Olivia lived a very sheltered life as the daughter of a preacher, never allowed to experience the little things in life. The year before she leaves for college she makes a list of the things she wants to do and decides she will live. During her sophomore year she still hasn’t marked many things off her list. Fate steps in by way of a flat tire on the side of the road and a sexy stranger to help.

After a few meetings with Trace, Olivia decides she wants to share her list with him thinking he’d be the perfect person to help her mark those items off. Trace has secrets of his own, but he is all for helping Olivia and forming a friendship with her. As items are marked off and time goes on their friendship builds into more.

Like all things everything isn’t always what it seems and the past comes back to haunt you and then you must fight for what you want. Can Olivia and Trace make it through the obstacles they face to get to their happily ever after?

“Life is not measured by the amount of breaths you take, but by the moments that take your breath away.” ~Author Unknown~

I really enjoyed this story from beginning to end. The side characters were great and I would love to read more about them.  I fell in love with Trace from the first meeting and a little more with each chapter. Olivia, even though she was sheltered and extremely shy I still loved her as well. The love that builds between Trace & Olivia wasn’t rushed and it was beautiful, their chemistry was amazing. When I got to their first time I thought I saw steam coming from my kindle it was that hot.

Absolute beautiful love story 4.5 AMAZING STARS

Moving to Williamsfield, Georgia is not what she wants …
it’s what she needs. An escape—from him.
After being brutally abused for years, Sadie seeks sanctuary and safety.
But can she ever be safe when evil has his eyes on her from afar.

Landon doesn’t want a relationship. He’s been burned too badly to want anything more from a woman than the physical, but one look at Sadie and he’s rethinking everything.
Can trust be formed when it’s been so beaten down? Can love conquer fears?
What happens when evil doesn’t give up? Can Sadie ever really be safe?

~~~Melissa’s Review~~~
For the past three years Sadie has been hiding what was really going on in her life with her on and off again boyfriend Rob. She didnt know how to get out from under him without putting her family in danger. Little did she know her family was going to try and protect her.
After the last incident that landed her in the hospital, Sadie’s mom decided enough was enough and she was going to make Sadie move away from all the hurt and pain that Rob was causing her. Sadie fought her mom saying she couldnt go but her mom was adamant and Sadie finally gave in and 2 weeks later moved to a small town in Georgia, where her aunt and uncle live.
Her first morning there she meets Landon and right away there is a connection that she is bound and determined to fight. She knows why she is in Georgia and know she needs to start a new life but she also knows and believes in her mind that Rob will one day find her.
Slowly Landon and Sadie build a strong friendship and were growing to much more. Unfortunately Sadie’s past surfaces and the two must stay strong
to have the one true love that everyone wants.
Will Sadie and Landon be able to get past everything that is thrown at them
and get their happily ever after?
I absolutely LOVED this book. The author did a amazing job and she kept me guessing from every turn and every twist that happened in the book. I am one to normally be able to guess what is going to happen and with SAFE I never saw it coming.
Landon and Sadie’s chemistry is off the charts and you can feel their vibes before anything ever happens between them and when it finally did it was sweet but yet so sexy. He stands by her even without knowing what was going on in her mind. She slowly lets him in and when she does everything seems to be ripped away from them. I felt every emotion going through both of them from love to heartache to worry.
Ryan Michele did a great job with the way she delved into how a victim actually feels about what happens to them, and her description made feel like I was there and all I wanted to do was reach through my kindle and hug Sadie and Landon then smother Rob.
5 AMAZINGLY HUGE STARS
~~~~Joni’s Review~~~~
For three years Sadie lived in fear of what would happen next with her abusive ex Rob. She never uttered a word of the abuse she went through out of fear of what Rob would do to the one’s she loved most. She took the abuse in silence to protect them. After her latest “accident” her mother stepped in and said enough. She must leave everyone she loves and wants to protect behind.
The protector must now become the protected.
Two weeks later Sadie is settling in her new life in Georgia with her cousin Lauryn. Her first day there she meets Landon and the connection is there immediately. Sadie doesn’t want a man, she doesn’t trust them, and she lives in fear of Rob. Landon has his own demons and has no intention of giving into the connection he felt with Sadie. Yet he can’t seem to stay away, they decide to forge a friendship and nothing more. As the days and weeks pass their bond begins to grow. You can feel the chemistry and tension flowing between these two.
Then everything falls apart. Sadie gets news and rushes home, not expecting what’s waiting for her. From there I’m going to leave you hanging. Yep you get no more from me. I will not spoil what happens from there it’s totally worth the wait to read it yourself.
Ryan Michele did an excellent job of portraying the actions of an abused woman. From the guilty thoughts that run through Sadie’s head to the flinching and fear of violence she experiences. She also did a great job with Landon, standing beside Sadie even when he had no idea what he was facing. I could feel their emotions and the bulding of trust and love between them. I cannot wait to see what happens with the side characters from this book. I loved them all, except Rob.

I also give SAFE 5 AMAZINGLY HUGE STARS

Tasha Skinner finally shed the baggage of a failed marriage. Now, she’s looking forward to a night of margaritas and man-bashing. Tasha’s friends have other plans, including Leather, Lace and liberation.

~ Joni’s Review ~
I’m going to try to do this review without spoilers this is one of those books you don’t want spoiled.

From the first chapter I was hooked into this story.

By the second chapter I knew I was going to love Dylan.

Tasha is free for the first time since high school and is ready to find herself again after her failed marriage. Her best friend Holly arranges a divorce party for her at a club unlike any other club Tasha has ever been to. She meets Dylan that night and from there her life slowly begins to become her own again.

As the book progresses you learn more and more about what happened during the years of her marriage. I loved the way Dylan was with Tasha from the go. No matter how much she said she wasn’t his and never would be he went out of his way to show her she was. He healed her slowly over time and made sure he built trust between them.

When the past starts creeping in and people you have always trusted begin to betray you who do you trust?

The man you are falling in love with or the person you’ve known your entire life?

I really enjoyed this book and found it hard to put it down at times. I loved Dylan and Zeke from the go. I understood Tasha. I want to know more about Tommy and even Holly all though I didn’t like her for most of the book. I will definitely be reading the rest of this series!!

Mira and Kylee meet Danny and Skylar during freshman orientation, their first week of college. Two sets of best friends embark on a new adventure together, forming life long bonds.
Mira and Danny are looking forward to their future as husband and wife. Everything was going according to plan. That was until tragedy struck them on graduation night leaving three broken people to pick up the pieces.
Skylar has always stood in the background, watching his best friend begin a life with the woman he fell in love with until he can no longer keep a distance.
Right when Mira thinks her life is back on track it spirals out of control. What if everything you thought you knew was nothing more than a mirage.

 From the very first page I was hooked into this story. Emotional trauma roller coaster ride from start to finish. I shed many tears throughout. I fell in love with Mira and Kylee. Danny is a sweetheart and Skylar is top book boyfriend material and hard not to love. Things aren’t always what they seem though and just when you think you know what’s going on…

WHAM!!

The roller coaster jumps track and you are holding on for dear life, screaming, crying, and praying you make it to the end.

To say I loved this book is an understatement. I lived this book. I felt every bit of emotion these characters felt. Ashley Suzanne did an ah-mazing job with her debut novel and I am looking forward to her next book!!
