Blog Tour ~ Thrasher by K.S. Smith

Brianna Hamilton wants for nothing, especially her pick of gorgeous men. But one night when an unexpected turn of events unfolds, she collides with
Duke Thrasher, and there is no denying that she is going to fall hard, and fast.
Duke Thrasher has boundaries that he does not cross, keeping his personal life separate from his work. But when Brianna Hamilton enters his life the lines begin to blur.
Can Duke keep Brianna shielded from his line of duty or will his job destroy them?

I received this book as a gift from the author in an exchange for an honest review. OH MY HELL!! I absolutely LOVED this book. Once I started I couldn’t stop reading. I didn’t want to stop. My mind was consumed with Brie and Duke. They were perfect together from the start and even though shit happened they still managed to pull it all together. Duke promised to always be there for her and when she needed him the most, despite the circumstances, he kept his word. There is also a side story in here about Brie’s best friend and one of Duke’s coworkers, I’d love to have their whole story and I hope to hell there is more to come from the rest of the crew!! I need to know more about Gunner! One-Click this book NOW, it’s got all the elements. Hot men, melt your heart romance, and steaming hot scenes that will leave you panting for more! Thrasher gets 5 HUGE Stars from me!!

I was given an advanced copy of Thrasher in exchange for an honest review.  Let me begin by telling you that I hope that this book is made into a series because the characters are wonderful.

Brianna Hamilton is the daughter of the Florida Governor, she teaches school, she loves her best friend Megan, and she loves life.  What she doesn't care for is the way that her parents always treat her like a child.  Then one night while out at the bar, a talk dark sexy stranger sweeps her off her feet, and turns her world upside down.  Little does Brie realize but life is never gonna be the same after Duke Thrasher.

Duke Thrasher is drawn to Brianna.  He is protective, he is possessive, he is caring and he has secrets.  Secrets about his job that he can not share with Brianna, things that he cannot share about himself

When the secrets come out and danger is just around the corner,  Brie and Duke could be apart forever, or they could just find their HEA.

What I loved about Duke and Brianna is that they fit so well together.  I don't want to give anything away but this story reminded me a lot of one of my favorite movies.   Duke and Brianna really got each other.  Even though there were things about his job that he could not share with Brianna, he always looked out for her, always tried to keep in touch with her so that she did not worry about him.  Brianna gave Duke the space he needed to do his job.  Yes she missed him when he was not with her, but she never tried to push him to tell her more than he was able to.

The secondary character Megan, Tripp and Gunner added comic relief when needed, and added to the suspense of the story as well. This story was truly amazing and I would highly recommend it to anyone that likes a little bit of secrets mixed with HOT, protective, alpha men, and dreamy HEAs.  I give this amazing book 5 secretive stars.

Bedding the Biker Next Door by Virna DePaul
Bedding the Bachelors #5

Jill Jones has good friends, a great job, and a steady amount of dates. What she doesn’t have is a kinky or wild bone in her body—or so she thinks. Then she meets a handsome tattooed biker who lights her on fire. Suddenly she’s saying yes to all sorts of things, starting with a night in bed, no strings attached.

A security expert, Cole Novak protects others for a living, but he’s weighed down by grief that he couldn’t save the most important person in his life. Then he meets Jill, and for one night she brings color back into his world…only to walk away, plunging him back into the now-familiar darkness.

Soon Cole discovers that Jill is closer than he realized—living in the very house he plans to sell in order to leave the past behind. With the wild woman of his dreams suddenly the girl next door, will Cole still sell the place and move away, or will he soak in more of Jill and open his heart to hope and love?

He paused the bottle of beer en route to his mouth so quickly, it sloshed around inside.
She was petite and dark-haired, with big eyes. Light eyes. Not a flashy woman. In fact, some might say she was on the plain side, but that was only if you were stupid enough to discount her delicate, perfectly symmetrical features. She had prominent cheekbones and a long, graceful neck that reminded him of a ballerina, and there was something about the way she talked to her friend—her eyes bright and her hands gesturing wildly—that made him think sweet and wild.
Staring at her, something stirred in his chest. As if she sensed him watching, she glanced over. As their eyes connected across the room, something in Cole’s jeans stirred too, something that hadn’t stirred in a good long time. Just like that, he felt a tug low in his belly, and red-hot need surged through him. His cock twitched and came to life, throbbing in a way that made him catch his breath.
It was a good kind of breathlessness, like the exhilarating rush he experienced while surfing, riding his cruiser, or having fabulous sex. It hadn’t taken a redhead or blonde or the promise of sex in an airplane to remind him of those things, only a lovely, unassuming brunette watching him over her drink with those big, light eyes of hers.
As his body worked overtime, so did his mind—from two different points of view. One urged him not to delay—stop wasting time and go to her, you dick.
But another part of his brain cautioned him—stop being ridiculous, you’re just tired. She didn’t seem the type of woman a guy casually picked up in a bar unless he wanted more from her than one night in bed.
And he didn’t have more to give any woman right now.
Certainly not anytime soon.
Probably not ever.
He had to focus on taking care of his mom’s things. Selling the houses. Expanding his business. And maybe finding out what the fuck was going on with Eric.
That was enough for anyone to handle at the moment.
Deliberately, he turned away and signaled the bartender. He’d have one more drink. Then he’d get the hell out of there.

Title: Dangerous Love

Author: Casey Clipper

Genre: Contemporary Romance

Release Date:March 10, 2015

dangerous love international bookcover pic

From Contemporary Romance Author Casey Clipper comes book 3 of The Love Series.

Warning, book 3 of The Love Series is about bad boy extraordinaire Derk Forester. This novel contains strong/foul language, violence, and sex. After all, he works for the mob. No rainbows or kittens in his story. Possibly a puppy. Oh, and no cliffhangers in this series.

Derk Forester is a man who's used to getting what he wants when he wants. He takes, conquers, then saunters away in all aspects of his life - work and play. Years embedded deep in the mob and a sour taste for relationships, he has zero desire to find a permanent partner to make a home with. His carefree lifestyle leaves him with a long list of inconsequential, bed-rocking, no-strings-attached women. A daily life he relishes until he meets...her. The one woman who could alter his world. The one woman he can't get out of his head. The one woman who could bring him to his knees. The one woman who could be used against him.

If it wasn't for bad luck, Mackenzie Hiland would have no luck at all. A cheating husband, shafted by the courts, no money or home, her life is a dismal list of horrible choices and even worse consequences. After acknowledging she needs to change her decision making skills, Mackenzie can't help but to be lured in by the dangerous man, who's taken an interest in her and is blatant in his desire to get her into his bed. Despite the fact she tries to distance herself from Derk, he refuses her rejections. Will Derk become another addition to the long list of regretful decisions she's made? Could Derk possibly be the man that doesn't screw her over? Or will Derk be the one choice that finally takes her to a point of no return?

*Dangerous Love is book 3 of The Love Series. Though this is not a cliffhanger series and the novel can be read as a standalone, you might find it more enjoyable to read the entire series.

**Warning: Not suitable for under 18 yrs of age. Contains strong language, violence, and sex.

Teaser

A few minutes after ten, Derk and Smith sauntered into Cards to find it filled with wall to wall drunks.

"Holy sh*t," Derk spat.

Mackenzie was on top of the bar with Kayla and two other bartenders doing some sort of dance, gyrating to the pulse of the music. He could have sworn he felt his blood pressure spike. F*&k this shit. It was bad enough she just recovered from a concussion from dancing on that cesspool of a bar, but to be on display like a pole dancer. Forget it. Not his girl. She needed to find a goddamn secretary job.

Seeing red, he stormed right up to the bar, shoved drunk bastards out of his way, until he stood below her. It only took a moment for her to catch his eye. A flash of fear lit those beautiful blues. Luckily for her and everyone else nearby, it was the end of the number. She jumped off the bar to a round of applause and went right back to pouring drafts. Conveniently out of arm’s reach. When she approached him, he reached across the bar and yanked her close.

"I don’t like it," he growled. Eyes narrowed, he studied her as she nervously bit her lip. The caveman in him wanted to toss her over his shoulder and cart her the f&%k out of the disease infested place. Buuuut, that would more than likely have her screaming, and the only time he ever wanted to hear her shriek was when he was pounding into that tight body.

F&%k. F*&k. F*&k.

How the hell did he deal with this? He wasn't used to wanting a woman so badly he went all alpha or whatever. It made him feel...exposed, like he was gonna lose his sh@t.

"You realize you don't have a say in what I do for a living," she challenged, her voice unsure.

"You really want to get into it with me, Mac? Do you?" he countered, totally turned on by her defiance.

Shrugging, she looked him dead in the eyes. "Do you really want to get into this debate with me?"

She squared her shoulders and straightened her spine, ready for a battle.

Assaulting her mouth, he kissed her hard, his tongue reaching as far back as it would go. He was so f*&king hot for her, he wanted to take her on the dirty-a** wood bar. Apparently, she was just as hot, because she met him stroke for stroke as their tongues danced violently. He dislodged their lip lock. "Mac, you're mine tonight."

Her eyes glittered excitedly. "You think?"

"You don't have a f*&king choice, M. I'm tired of waiting for you. No more." Derk released his grip on her and reluctantly allowed her to return to her duties. Raking his eyes up and down her fine body, little did she know what she was in for when she clocked out in a couple hours. Waving toward the far end of bar, she let him know where she was stationed for the night. He and Smith muscled their way and not-so-gently escorted two barely twenty-one year old punks off two stools.

Mac quickly slid a beer in front of them, then went about her business. Derk ran a hand through his hair and released a long breath. He picked up his longneck and took a drag, his eyes plastered to Mac. As if she could feel his penetrating gaze upon her, she turned his direction and her cheeks pinked. Snorting, he crooked a finger at her. The minx sauntered over to him and leaned on the bar, teasing him with her perfect breasts.

"You're coming home with me after work," he demanded.

Narrowing her eyes, she said, "Are you asking or telling me?"

About to admit that was a direct order, he clamped his mouth shut.

"Will you?" he asked, with only a hint less demand.

She rolled her eyes which caused Smith to chuckle. A rarity for the man.

"You look tired."

"It's been a sh*tty day," he admitted.

Nodding, as if she sensed that, she relented. "Okay."

"I'll pick you up," he said. "Three?"

"No, midnight. I get off early." She gave him the most awesome wicked smile.

He leaned over into her personal space. "You don't have to work here, you know."

Furrowing her brows. "What do you mean?"

"Just saying." He shrugged.

Sh*t, what the hell was that? Sometimes that brain filter thing shut off on him. Now wasn't the time to spew stupid crap like she could live with him and he'd take care of her.

Beside him, Smith quietly chuckled, again. He'd kick the bastard if he didn't think Smith would retaliate with a bullet to his knee cap.

Derk picked up his beer and downed it, tossed some cash on the bar, then stood to leave. Leaning over, he grabbed Mac at the nape of her neck and pulled her in for a blazing goodbye kiss.

When he had enough of her taste to tie him over until later, he stalked out of the place before he opened his mouth and said more crazy, stupid sh*t.

  ✢ EXCERPT

Chapter 1

I’m cold, colder than I’ve ever been in my entire life and I don’t know why. Slowly, I

open my eyes, tentatively at first because even opening them a fraction feels like

someone's shoving red-hot pins into them. The light is so bright.

What’s with the light anyway?

Has Michael wandered in, blootered on some poncy new beer and left the light on,

after collapsing in a heap onto the bed?  I’ll brain him if he has. I’m no good to

anyone when I don’t get my eight hours.

Pulling myself up in bed, I reach out my arm to nudge him awake so I can give him a

right mouthful. My hand finds empty space.

Where is he?

My eyes sting as I prise them open – it’s as though there's been an accident with false

lashes and I've glued my eyelashes together - and that’s when I realise I’m not in our

flat. The reason I’m freezing is because I’m wearing a tracing paper thin hospital

gown: the kind that shows off your backside when you’re being whisked off to x-ray.

A tidal wave of panic hits me and I jerk into full consciousness.

What’s happened to me?

I try to remember, but my brain’s all bunged up as if the top of my head's been

removed and the cavity filled with cotton wool.

My arms are bandaged up. Have I been in an accident?  If I have, I don’t remember.

Maybe I hit my head.

I take in my surroundings. If I’m in hospital, it’s no ordinary one. For one thing, my

room’s more like a cell. There’s a bed and a table bolted to the floor, but no personal

stuff: photos, or cards, or stuffed animals from people wishing me well. Does anyone

even know I’m here?

I grope for a call button to get a nurse, but there isn’t one. What the hell? This place is

a prison.

Staggering out of bed, I fight the wave of nausea and dizziness that make me want to

yell at the world to stop moving because I want to get off the carousel. The tile floor

is stone cold and there are no slippers by the bed. My feet are ice blocks. Why don’t I

have any socks or tights on?

Before I reach the door, there's a jingle of keys, then a key scrapes in the lock.

Holding my breath, I brace myself for what’s coming.

A woman I don’t recognize with brown hair tied back in a ponytail appears. She’s

dressed in a nurse’s uniform and there’s a small smile playing on the edge of her lips.

"Good, you’re awake, Nancy."

She sounds pleased, as if we’re bosom buddies, when I’ve never seen her before in

my life.

"Where am I?"

My voice comes out as a rasp as though my throat’s been sandpapered down.

The nurse puts a hand on my shoulder. "Let’s get you back into bed, Nancy."

I do as she says. I’m worried if I don’t lie back, I’ll faint.

"You’re in Parkview Hospital," she says, as she fixes the pillows so I can sit upright.

I know all the hospitals in Glasgow, but I haven’t heard of that one. I ask her what

kind of hospital it is and she tells me it’s a psychiatric facility. The reason I haven’t

heard of it, is because they don’t publicize it. Perhaps because it’s full of nutters they

want to keep away from society. The prospect terrifies me because that would mean

they must think I’m cuckoo. Why else would I be here?

I suck in my breath. When I ask her if this is a nut house, she presses her lips tightly

together as she tells me no one refers to psychiatric hospitals in that way any more.

Suitably chastised, I mumble an apology not because I think one’s needed, but

because she’s the one with the keys.

"Why am I here?"

I’m dreading the answer, but I need to know. I don’t feel any different. Surely if I’d

lost my mind, I'd know.

"You had a breakdown."

The way she says it, she could be talking about the weather.

She asks me if I want anything and I tell her a pair of proper pajamas, a dressing

gown and slippers would be nice because I’m an ice block. If she gets in touch with

Mum, she’ll bring me in some stuff.

Her smile’s still there, but breaks down around the corners of her mouth. There’s

something she’s not telling me, because she’s worried how I’ll react. There’s fear in

her eyes. I notice she’s wearing a lucky heather brooch, the same one I got for Mum.

I’m staring at it as she tells me she’s going to fetch a doctor, when a memory stirs

inside me and no matter how hard I try to push it away, someone’s taken their finger

out the dyke and the water’s rushing in.

Blood, blood everywhere. Dad’s slumped in his favorite armchair, head bent forward

as if in prayer (he never prayed a day in his life); a single bullet hole in his head. I

know it’s him, even although his face has been beaten to a pulp: his blood staining the

fireside rug my mum was so fond of. Even in death, my dad has a presence. He fills a

room with the sheer weight of his personality. Discarded nearby is the baseball bat

they used on him. It’s covered in blood and something sticky and dark brown,

resembling raw mincemeat.
